New X5 Owner -IDRIVE 5.0 Traffic Information down?

Hello All,

First off, thank you all for the useful information on this forum which helped me decide my build. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

I just picked up my new 2017 X5 3.5 this week and it seems the Traffic Information is not available at the moment (no green/red lines on map). I have the new IDRIVE 5.0 and BMW assist is telling me that Traffic info is currently down?

I am coming from an 2011 F10 535i and decided to trade in due to my growing family. No regrets, the F15 is awesome! This is my 3rd BMW and I have always loved sedans but now after driving the X5, I cant go back.

Does anyone know if Traffic info down, or does the dealer/service need to activate something? This feature is definitely needed with NYC traffic. My SOS button is also not working.

I need to get pictures on here but have no clue how to upload them. below is my build:

M Sport Package
M adaptive Suspension
469 M wheels
Premium Package
Mineral White
black leather
Rear Shades
Tire Spare
Surround View
Rear Camera

Any input would be appreciated.

There are times when it is down. Not sure if this is due to vendor updates or communication issues. Usually comes back within a few hours to days. However I have not heard of the SOS not working. I know if I am up in the Cascade mtns, sometimes it doesn't work due to signal loss.

My traffic was down yesterday in NYC, but it came back after an hour or so, so I assumed just something in the backend.

I picked up the car last sat and its hasn't been working ever since. Not sure if its a IDRIVE 5 problem.

I have follow up appointment with the dealer "genius" this coming sat and I will bring it to his attentions.

I think I am having a similar issue. My symptoms though, is that I cannot add the new X5 to my existing ConnectedDrive account using the last 7 digits of the VIN. Which is required to be able to use the iOS app.

I've called BMW Assist and they told me it takes 24-48 hours to update "the system" after the dealer submits the paperwork. I picked it up on Friday and it still isn't working. I contacted the dealer Monday to ask them to look into it.

This also means I can't use the wifi hotspot or any of the ConnectedDrive services

My insurance was unable to add the car via the VIN either, I'm wondering if this is all connected

yes, my SA said the same, that it should be functioning after 48 hours but I still get nothing. My SOS doesn't work either.

I'm afraid not, no. My dealer did it all for me before pickup.

I've read of others that just pressed the concierge service or SOS button and asked for it to be activated - but if that doesn't work either I guess you need a Genius rather than an Enthusiast!

I called and asked. They have been having issues with one satellite and service has been intermittent. Seem OK over here in Los Angeles about 2 hours ago, let's see if it is still working on my way home.

I don't know where to find the existing wifi hot spot password but the first thing I did was change the SSID and password so it didn't matter

On the manage mobile devices screen (if i remember correctly), press your option button and there should be one for changing the hotspot SSID and password

i just left the car overnight and picked up the following night.
