Replacing side mirrors with euro convex mirrors

Hey all...I swear I saw a thread with info about swapping out the side mirrors to those convex euro spec mirrors on here somewhere but when I tried looking for it I couldn't find anything. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the standard side mirrors so I can change them out to the new ones?

I did it following Alan's instructions. Basically you tilt the mirrors all the way down and pull them out from the top. There will be three wires to disconnect/reconnect, presumably the heating/auto dimming power sources. Very easy to do.

Tip
If you choose to tilt down, put a paper towel between the bottom of your mirror glass and the paint ( you don't need to do this but it prevents scratching the paint)

Much appreciated...I ended up using blue painter's tape and pulling it out from the side. Looks awesome with the new mirrors!

I got both used from some guy in Romania through eBay.com. Just have to make sure that they're OEM, heated and will dim.

@E90325M posted his pics on page 110 of the Random Pics thread. Looks like he got them from "carmirrorseller" on eBay. $140 is a great price.

I ordered some off ebay as well and they were just delivered today. One of my projects for the weekend.

I apparently just got the last set from the seller mentioned above. Hopefully he gets more in for everyone else.

Yep, euro mirrors is the only way to go! Got them on my Audi S5, Touareg and will put them on my X5 when the time comes.

The advantage is that you can check your blind spots without having to turn your head over your shoulders.

Naturally if you have DAP+, they are less useful, but for those of us without, they are a "must" now that they are readily available at a decent price. I remember when we first talked about them last year and prices were ~$200 per side IIRC. That's what prevented me from getting them until now.

This is how I would summarize the difference.....

US Driver Side: Objects in the mirror are not the only objects around you
US Passenger Side: Objects in the mirror are close than they appear, some may not appear at all

EU Driver Side: You can see nearly every object, the outer edge ones will be closer
EU Passenger Side: You can see nearly every object, the outer edge ones will be closer

I have DA+, and I can just move head to side not necessarily rotate to see everything, but I still do out of habit after driving so many years.

Ordered mine today! Looking forward to installing them and seeing the difference. Question? How does this guy get all of these used mirrors? Just asking? Anyone of our brothers/sisters missing them over in Europe? Lmao

Well, you can easily just pop them off with your fingers and unplug the connectors. No tools required. Just saying.....

Except for some blue painter's tape to protect the paint on the opposite sides of the ones you pull on.
