Extended warranties

Picking up my new X5 tomorrow and just started thinking about all of the extended warranty sales pitches I'll have to endure. Are any of the warranties worth adding on, and if so, approx how much should I pay, as I'm sure they are negotiable? Also, does BMW offer extended warranties or are they third-party vendors only? Yes, it's been a while since I've purchased new - I've gone Lexus Certified for the last 3 cars - most everything has alway been covered. TIA.

It's a '16. Sorry, I should have clarified - definitely waiting on the extended factory & maintenance warranties. It's the tire/wheel, paint (?), windshield, (and did I read something about a seat warranty?? It has multi-contour) etc. warranties that I'm concerned about. I've read that the tire/wheel warranty must be purchased at delivery? Yes, I'm obviously confused by the number of warranty options :/

I opted for extended warranty...bumper to bumper through 160k (or maybe 150k???). Made sense given the kms I log, my 2014 has 71,xxx kms on it already, just had its 2nd birthday.

For the price, the extended warranty is not a good value. Take that money and put it in the cookie jar to use for repairs that would have otherwise been covered. From what I read, 90%+ of people who purchased an extended warranty never used it. The extended maintenance contract is for certain a value if you are planning on keeping the vehicle.

+1. When the finance guy starts to talk about the tire and wheel warranty, politely say thank you but no thank you. Sign the papers and be on your way. Odds are that you will not likely spend anywhere close to how much you will pay for an incident within the next few years.

Depending on your insurance glass deductible, the windshield coverage may be a good value. These windshields seem more prone to major cracking. If you are getting nappa leather, it seems to be wearing fast so interior coverage may be worth it. My ivory nappa showed signs of wear in about 4 months. I wish I had that coverage now.

Walked outta there w/nothing - no warranties. The 7/70K extended was $5K. No thank you :/ I have a $50 deductible on comprehension, so the windshield warranty wasn't a good deal either. Was a little nervous when I drove off the lot w/out the warranties, but I'm good w/it now. I'll probably get the extended warranty down the road, IF I end up keeping longer than 4 yrs. Thanks for the helpful info!
BTW - wasn't offered any kind of interior warranty - now that's something I may have purchased. Wonder if that's something I can still get.

I would (and have) and I'll tell you why

1. Look at the issues on this forum with such a great car "within" the current warranty period time - what do you think is going to happen after the standard warranty period

2. I have had numerous x5's the cost of the smallest issues cost the largest amount OUTSIDE of warranty. Since then my extension of warranty cost has MORE THAN covered the cost of issues presented (and yes this is a BMW X5) there will be issues

all my cars are looked after - BMW only touches the services and the cars a looked after immaculately - they are never thrashed.... Trust me, when I tell you that the reliability of a car like this VS say a Lexus IS noticeable !!

I love BMW - such a shame I have to question whether I'll have an issue pop up tomorrow or next day

Warranty (from above) is a no brainer

PS - I'm in Australia, again I'm not sure of US Costs, but always aim for BMW Factory - covering bumper to bumper (no exclusions)
