I have a 2015 model and have been in the shop 2 times for the clicking. Shouldn’t of let them touch it to begin with as they made the clicking much louder and the last attempt the worse. Didn’t really bother me before I had them work on the car but now it’s so loud. Literally sounds like a ball bearing that is lose and dropping everytime the wheel rotates

Wondering if I switched to a different company wheel bearing and if that would fix the issue

I've had the latest fix applied a few weeks back now, fitting the shim, and i'm happy to report that i haven't heard the sound once. To be clear, my car is a 2018. I also had a 2016 and when the same fix was applied, it didn't work. No idea whats different between years, or whether or not this issue will return.

Gentlemen - picking up a low mileage Melbourne Red/ Aragon. Haven't heard the clicking as yet and is this something of a DYI? appears straight forward. It's a CPO car so, 'should' the dealer do this? thanks!

If there is nothing wrong with the car, i would advice don't do any fix to it. Just enjoy the car in good health.. Just in case you have the clicking noise during hard turn slow speed, then it is the same problem like what I used to have. It is contact surface problem, and a disc washer should help.

6k miles and just noticed the noise with my '18. Finally had the windows down after a long winter and heard it.
So the above image/SIB is what I need completed and it appears to resolve the issue for good?

just noticed the clicking on my 18 X5M. Going to call the dealer for a service appointment and hopefully a fix. Was easy to find a helpful thread on this board.

You and me both. How many miles? Post back with your invoice to see if it matches what others have previously posted.

I'm waiting until June to take it in for my annual service/state inspection, along with possibly new exhaust due to my exhaust tip chrome delamination.

It has just over 7,000 miles. But the sound could have started a while ago. Had it not been for me driving up a parking garage with my window down, I would not have heard it. Going to bring it to the dealer next week. Also have a groove going around my entire front passenger side rotor. That worries me more.

My car is also bothered by the crack. Once I changed the left and right bearings at the dealer. However, in half a year the sound began to become.
I now look at ISTA. Then the solution is written as follows.
I will try to put it into practice.

Repair notes for tick during cornering

Fault cause:
Play between wheel hub and brake disc causes a tick during cornering.
Repair instructions:

Remove the brake disc on the front axle
Clean the contact surfaces on the inside of the brake disc chamber and then sand down using coarse sandpaper (graining 80)
Note: No grease may be used on the contact surface between the wheel bearing and the brake disc during the assembly! The contact surface must be free of grease!
Install the washer for increasing the coefficient of friction no. 963 as shown in the video (see document Auxiliary materials and operating fluids)
Mount the brake disc on the front axle
Note: For vehicles older from before 2018, all the front and rear wheel bolts, and locking wheel bolts if applicable, must be replaced!

How did you make out at the dealer re: the wheel bearing? Happen to have a current SIB# to share if it worked?
Thanks

If you drive with the widows up all the time can you hear it?

From reading this thread it doesn't seem like it's a safety issue just an annoying sound?

I always drive windows up so hopefully I won't even know it's there?

Thanks!!

Ugh, I just noticed this happening on my 2018 and found this thread. Taking it to the dealership tomorrow. Even if not a safety issue, it's embarrassing being in a drive-thru and having your $120k SUV clicking like a junker when turning.

Mine was doing this badly. On the front right wheel. I took wheel off and noticed the 2 hub pins were ceazed. I drilled both out and slapped the wheel back on, then tightened the wheel bolts. Clicking is gone.

See if they will take the hub pins out and tighten the wheel bolts on as an alternative to the pis. My pins were stopping the hub from completely clamping together. After removing the pins my noise is gone. The E70 X5M guys were retrofitting the F85 rotors and the pins didn't line up so they used the lugbolts to secure the hub.... just an idea.

So I have the clicking on my '18 F85 now as well - started at around 11K Miles.
I have an appointment this Friday. It will be interesting to see if the fix is handled the same way here in Germany.
