To all prospective buyers.... (Curbed wheel)

...Don't forget to add a surround view camera. I sure wish I did. I curbed a wheel today.

Anyone have any idea if this is easy to fix and not too costly?

refinishing the wheels should cost about 150 per wheel and usually a 24 hr turnaround

I paid 175 to get my wheel fixed, 6 inches worth of damage.

I got in contact with the top result in a Google search (http://www.awrswheelrepair.com). He said it would cost $135 to do the wheel, and it can be done any day next week.

I am concerned if he can match the beautiful finish of these wheels. They are the 20 inch M Sport wheels. Ramsal, how did yours come out?

Thanks to all for your replies!

My understanding was that they will Do the entire wheel to make it flush...that's what they had told me before.

That is so minor you can even repair that with a dremel tool. All you need is light sanding bit to smooth it out.

One of my 469M was curbed WAY worse than that. Has anyone been successful at getting that wheel repaired to look 100% original? The finish is machined/painted which has me worried that repair shops won't be able to match it.

I've had wheels repaired on three different vehicles, two times the wheels were painted and once polished. In every instance the result looked like new.

I've got 2 rashes one severe and one minor as the above picture from the OP
First one happened while parallel parking next to a curb (wife) and the other happened when taking a corner and hitting the curb to avoid a possible accident (me).

I have similar damage on my VW Huff rims, which it needs to be painted and CNC machined, the shop told me it will look very original on its own if I'm only fixing one wheel, but if it is placed side by side with the others, you might be able to tell the diff.

Not too bad, but it would drive me nuts to leave it as is.

I know you know it's there but I doubt you can easily find it from 6ft away, so I wouldn't worry about that scratch at all.

We have surround camera and it didn't stop my wife to scratch the passenger side front wheel.

....

+1

I think I read once in the list of Corollaries to Murphy's law:

"The day after you get the curbed wheel back from refinishing, you will curb it again"

This is one of the reasons why i selected 2PV 19"M Wheels 467M for my 2016 X5 in addition to 360 view cameras.

Apparently there are 2 types of wheel repairs. Some shops use hard epoxy/cement material to fill in the damage and then smooth it out to blend in with the rest of the rim. This type of repair can apparently chip over time.

The shop I used was recommended by a friend and uses a metal alloy of some kind to fill in the damage and blend in and match the finish with the rest of the rim. I'm very picky about these things but I gotta say that I could not tell that the wheel was fixed, the finish was matched perfectly. I will be getting another rim fixed next week when I go into have my winters bolted on.
