I did ask and they did say they checked but without actually being there and looking at it I can't tell for sure..

just got off the phone.. it was the VIN.. they put a zero where an O should have gone and once you do that, Germany has to get involved apparently Germany was off for corpus christy yesterday. Hope they can get it today, they are going to swap my loaner out with the sales manager's X5 and come do the swap at my house. better than nothing...
so the lesson learned for you folks going to get this done. remind the service adviser that it is imperative that the VIN be put in correctly.. I should have done that.. not sure it would have mattered but at least I could have possibly avoided the hassle..

Ditto here
As an FYI for those of you going forward, I had my SA add a note to the service order to ensure the VIN is correctly added - otherwise the download will fail. gmazet - we have all been there with the multitasking errors. I reread one of my posts from a few days ago and wondered if English was my native language Last edited by Apple Corps; 06-16-2017 at 12:32 PM.. |

what are the chances I get my car back today? they did end up bringing me a brand new x5 to use while I wait, so there's that, but I'd rather have mine. was hoping for a loaded 50i

gmazet - still not back? What did they tell you today? At this point you are probably disgusted that you proceeded - figure a way to purge the install experience out of your mind so you can appreciate the improvement !!!

Still not back. They called around 3 yesterday and said they had to get a new code download from Germany and it will be ready today. Of course I'm tied up all day so IF it is ready, I won't get to pick it up til tomorrow. Confidence is low at this point. At least I have their x5 to drive until I get mines back.

When you go pick it up the first thing you need to do is verify the gauges says 400/400. If they don't proceed to raise hell.
Better yet have your SA take a pic of the screen for you before you head to the dealership. That's what i did.

picked it up last night. I dunno maybe I was expecting a lot with the double wow factor posts, but I only drove it home last night, about 6 miles, it felt a little quicker, but not WOW for me. maybe it was the fact that it cost 1200 and a week of hassle and I need to drive it in a less aggravated state.. and yes it reads 400/400 on the sport display. to me, I got a lot more wow and satisfaction out of the 612 wheels I put on it..

Well, my double WOW posts were based on:
Additional power on tap w/o downshifting for better acceleration (not turning it into a 50i) - the amount of which was exactly what I had hoped for Day to day drivability maintained BMW product / easy install / good price for what I was after Give us your assessment after you get more miles on it on some fun roads..... |

btw I swear that the exhaust on the non-Msport 35i loaner I had sounded better/meaner than mine..

The MPPK tune took about 20/30 minutes of driving to adjust to the engine for me to take notice of the additional power.

Remember, tunes for turbo'd cars just (mainly) increases the boost, so if your six mile trip home didn't include opps to drive in Sport+ and build up said PSI, you may not feel the full potential? Plus, I think one of the big positives about the MPPK is the drivability vs the raw increase in power that you may get from aftermarket tunes that turn the wick wayyyy up.
Hopefully some more seat time and adaptation per what Kzang said will put a smile on your face.

i felt it was very driveable beforehand, actually. took it out last night to run the kids around to and from activities, I can't say I can clearly see a night and day difference in how it drives. It also was quite quick before hand, my butt dyno can't really tell much difference. Maybe I am jaded or was remembering the difference between my stock e92 335 and the juicebox and intake that was a big difference.
I'm on the fence on whether it was worth $1200 and a week of aggravation. prob not.

The more I drive it, the more I like it. you do feel the difference not so much in just WOT launches, which are rare but in the response you get when you give it just a little pedal. not in a way that makes it jumpy or surging.
wife and kids don't appreciate the thrust nearly as much as I do

my MPG is about 19.4. that's after an initial 12 or so romping on it when I got it back, plus a trip down to the shore and back relatively highway, and then some around town for last couple weeks. I do think that the car feels more sporty with the tune, I'm not sure if I noticed it before but in sport mode it makes the shift burpfart noise now, very fast shifts in sport mode, even if not WOT, anything that takes it over 4500RPM will get that kind of fast shift. the grunt seems more grunty, with the sport display often showing 100hp/320+torque as it just pulls effortlessly in low-mid rpms.
the car entices me to drive in ways incompatible with local traffic laws...

as I was typing it I thought the same thing, I shopped the V8 and loved the power but didn't love the reliability history I'd seen with that motor, the MPG's and in some way, the corrupting power.
now, I'm sure side to side the v8 would still destroy the MPPK 6. but it feeeeels like a hot rod and it rewards right foot extension pretty well... much more sporty than a 3.0L 5300+LB sled has any right to feel. combined with my p-zero's on the X5M 612's and it's a pretty nice package if I say so..
