My first X (X5 M50d) - Greetings from Germany
Dear all,
I was long time a 5 series customer but I noticed that my loved wife is always eying on the light trucks of BMW! So I felt for myself I had to do something! I gave away my lovely Alpina D5 (see here: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1093642) and ordered a X5 M50d. I ticked nearly all of the boxes, just left out the towing connection and the vented seats. Rims are the 599 with 285/35 and 325/30 with Micheline Pilot Super Sport. The ride quality is better than with the D5 with same tires and 20". Here some impressions: Here some pics after sealing the paint with AutoBrill sealant (www.autbril.ch): Best regards Jochen Last edited by itf joegun; 06-22-2017 at 07:10 AM.. |

Welcome to the M50d club.
You will sure enjoy the pace and smooth tones of the engine. I have the same rims on Pirelli tyres and the ride quality is not compromised. Enjoy the new toy and I would be interested after one months ownership what you think of the car.

Yesterday we traveld to Switzerland over the french motorways and we managed to get 9,7 liters per 100 km (24 mpg) without missing anything. Impressive and less than the D5... |

wow! Love this car. Wonder if they ever released this in the US how much it would cost.
Anyways...resize...I'm on 100GB internet and a HD monitor and I still had to wait 15 seconds for it to load and scroll.

I am sorry that I have to disappoint you, but a Diesel engine has zero sound coming from the exhaust. Due to the particle filters no nice sound reach the end of the exhaust. So even if I record the exhaust note, there will be nothing spectacular.

Awesome looking car! I'm a huge fan of diesel, wish they had M50d available in the US, or even just an M40d

Didn't realize they existed? Enjoy the new ride - must be quicker than the M50d?

Yes the weight of the car is less and the aerodynamics are better and additionally it has more power. So it is clearly faster. I would say, without timing it, that the car is faster than my M3 from 100 to 200 km per hour...
