I also concur on the opinions regarding sensatec -- it's disgustingly sticky and cheap looking. My VW 2011 Treg V6 basic and 2008 335i had a better feel leatherette than the sensatec.

I am ordering a G30 5 Series right now and it has the option for sensatec dash for $500. Im not sure if I should I order it or not. Im assuming it comes with plastic if I do not get sensatec? I want a leather dash but there is only sensatec option

Your dash will be getting much more sun than your seats so sesatec is a much smarter option. And it'll look great.

Every car I've owned over the past 20 years has had all leather seats. And full leather not just the part thats against you. To be honest since I bought my X5 used with 14k on it, I did not know it was not leather during the first week I was driving it.
It did not have that leathery smell, so I checked the list of features and sure enough it is sensatech. Yes I agree a bmw with a 60k MSRP should have leather as a standard. But I'm not disappointed with sensatech after owning so many all leather interiors. I find the sensatech very durable and I slip around less then I do on leather. Maybe I'll just get some of that spray leather scent Or if I'm going the scent route, I'll pick up a can of the $129,000 bmw 750i scent Last edited by expidia; 06-27-2017 at 08:28 PM.. |

In my quest for a used X5 I made sure the first one I drove had sensatec. Can you tell it's not real - yes. Is it cheapo vinyl - no. Then I went to Dakota. There is certainly a difference but I felt the sensatec was a fine product. . . but let me be clear, I do believe any $50K+ should come standard with leather. But as stated before there are reasons and many just add the $2K real leather price on top of the $60K, $70K etc there are spending. I considered the sesatec because I have a teenage boy as well as a large dog. My biggest fear was it would be too hot in the summer (NE USA) - I read on here someone had an issue with sticky back on long rides.... that's a deal breaker for me. Nappa was not an option for me because it would get trashed and I'd rather the extra $ be put towards other features. My advice - don't let the fact that it's fake leather turn you away but certainly drive with it and see how you feel. |

I wish BMW offered fabric seats. Not hot in the summer and not cold in the winter.
