Side window glass replacement
Side window glass replacements by BMW North America currently taking 2-3 weeks due to lack of inventory in the supply chain:
This past weekend our '16 X5 was broken into (Seattle) and the drivers side window was broken to gain entry (nothing of value stolen). BMW North America has no replacements in inventory so they'll have to source one off of the production line in South Carolina which could take several weeks. In our prior '14 X5 we had problems getting our front windshield replaced -- in one case took them 4-5 weeks to source a replacement. Is this a BMW issue -- is BMW NA driving down costs by having no backup parts in inventory? Or is it a broader issue across all luxury car companies? Same thing is happening in San Francisco not just with BMWs but all types and makes. Even if you or the Police catch the thief, nothing really happens to them. So the cycle of these types of criminal behavior continues. I for one refuse to take my truck in the "City" unless I'm driving through the area. I drive my handy dandy 2002 Camry if I need to go there and even leave a "No valuables inside" sign.
I hope the crook didn't take anything of value. |

Sorry this happened. Not very good when the supplychain breaks down.

F8cking thieves! That brutal on the supply of the replacement door glass. You'd think with 2 full years of being on the road, these F15's would have a good stock of replacement parts, including door glass. 2nd option would be aftermarket? I'm with you though, OEM is best.

I'd be parking my X5 in their shop and demanding a loaner. 2 weeks is crazy for glass replacement!
