I'm not a fan of GM but I like how a lot of people here refer to this as a "cheap car" when their M3's actually cost less than this...

Im usually not a fan of american cars (only pickup trucks), but the GT350 and ZL1 LE are very impressive vehicles.

I just hate the style of the camaro. I wish they would redesign it and make it look less bulky, and fix the shitty interior visibility. I would definitely consider one at that point.

The GT350 would be a consideration if it wasnt selling at a crazy markup.

Yea, I wish the Camaro had better blind spot visibility. And a bit bulky vehicle, though it's a beautiful car. And this video...insane driving!

The GT350 is still selling over msrp? Figured hype would have died down by now. Great car as well, but I've read build quality is a bit so-so? (Body panels don't line up, etc). I'd take the ZL1 over the GT350 if I had to choose.

Tirerack lists the non-R version as an extreme category summer 220tw. OE for the SS 1LE and standard ZL1- these guys are calling it comparable to the MPSC2..

It didn't do that lap on a tire like MPSS with how much aero and how much spring rate this probably runs. Not taking away from the car but street tires don't last on a 2 minute course at 8/10s, they won't last on a 7 minute course at 10/10s (which many ~200tw tires will lose steam over).
This guy gets it

These cars are no joke, no excuses, period. I've been on the track in the NA 1LE with the regular Goodyear tires and that car was seriously impressive. These new Camaros are warrantied for track use too, a big added plus.

My biggest issue with Camaros and Vettes is that once the new gens come out, the prior gens become undesirable (excluding pre-1976 classic versions), unless you just want a robust track car. The styles may look great today but historically, they just have not stood the test of time compared to cars like Ms and 911s where every generation is still desirable (even some 996s, haha).

I think the C5s and C6s still look good(I'm a Corvette fan though). The early C5's aren't much cheaper to buy than a similar year 996 at this point. Hell, C5 Z06's started appreciating at one point(WTF...). I can see your point though.

I agree, there are certainly several exceptions. I still think the C6 ZR1 looks damn good; and C5 Zs are great buys and track monsters. It was more of a generality. Say if you span 1985-2013, there are many forgettable iterations in there, more so with Camaros. Heck, my dream car in high school was a C4 ZR1 but I couldn't pull myself together to buy one today.

Yeah it isnt hideous, IMO (obviously this is very subjective), but I have no idea why I feel claustrophobic in there. Its a fantastic car for the money, but obviously its targeted at serious enthusiasts that track their cars often, which i am not. Im already somewhat not taking advantage of my F82's potential by not tracking it, so imagine if i had this or the GT350. Major waste. At least in my M4 the luxury feel and quality interior makes it a bit more suitable for me as a DD.

Yeah the GT350 has its flaws, but still a fantastic car. Unfortunately, the hype hasnt died. same as the M2.

So basically make it not a sports car, but like a Ford Fiesta.

One unfortunate factor is 95% of the American public has no idea how to set up their side mirrors.

The 5th and 6th gen camaros are no joke- they are very fast if driven even decently. They run huge tires, so replacement costs is a little painful, the outward visibility is awful, and the seats/pedals/steering wheel are skewed which is a problem for some. Still, can't argue with the stellar on-track performance they're cranking out even in the much cheaper 1LE versions you can get in the mid $20s now.

If I could live with the interior and visibility, I'd have one.

No, I just said that I wouldnt use it to its full capabilities. Meaning, Im not the target demographic.

And The visibility issue has nothing to do with the side mirrors. Its the actual curvature and size of the windows, especially the front. I feel like im looking over a mountain when i look out the front windshield of a camaro.

Worked at a GM dealer for a while, and although I haven't driven the ZL1, I have driven the new SS, and everything before it- Z/28, 5th ZL1, etc.

If you think anything shy of a heavily optioned 5 Series has a better interior than these new Camaros, you're kidding yourself. That's flat out refusing to look beyond the badge.

And GM's new chassis make nearly all modern BMW's feel like Camrys in comparison.

I'm thinking no-lift-shift is part of the reason some of those upshifts are soooo damn fast.

You can see the driver lifting his leg/foot at certain camera angles during the shifts

edit: sometimes he is definitely not lifting his foot
