sDrive35 vs xDrive35
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com We live in Austin, TX and don't really "off-road". This is a daily driver to / from work and around town. We might take a road trip to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio once a year. Should i be thinking xDrive instead? thanks, Pesh |

I'm sure you are quite aware that the sdrive is rear wheel drive. That being said, I am also unaware of your weather down in Texas. I am from Chicago and have bought only one SUV that wasn't all wheel drive or 4x4 and have seriously regret it.
Rain, snow, or any other typically bad weather, and I don't think you will like the performance of the car. The suv I bought was front wheel drive and it was terrible. I couldn't imagine driving the rear wheel drive up here. Rear wheel drive cars are considered summer cars up here. I also don't do any off-roading, just typical daily driving. I would personally spend the extra $3k for all wheel drive. Just my opinion! |

In Austin, we have mostly sunny to overcast weather. If anything we'll see a little rain here and there. Its frankly mostly dry. My 2009 M3 Convertible is rear wheel drive and with traction control, i never have any issues. I know that its not a fair comparison of M3 vs X5, but still iffy on 2WD vs 4WD.

The only downside i see for OP is resale
It would probably be a lot easier to sell xDrive So if you dont have any steep hills covered in dirt to climb and resale is not a concern, go with sDrive |

I decided to go xDrive for the small difference in price.
