With constant MAX A/C setting, I literally get brain freeze so I usually keep it at 2 bars after 5~10min of Max A/C in the beginning at around 64~67 degrees. Anything lower would freeze my body.

Had plenty of increase left to easily handle outside temps in the 100's if the air struggles so bad at 100 you would think it would be maxed out in the mid 80's not even close.

Don't get me started... I should've thought about the 117 Degrees we get when I chose "Black Sapphire" and I didn't expect the AC to be so Weak even on the highest fan in Auto Mode! It kinda becomes powerful when I turn on MAX AC

I guess I am a minority here but I find my 2015 X5's AC more than enough even in 95 degree weather. In fact I almost never have it higher than half way.

I have the rear climate control on my car so I am wondering if those with issues have this option too? Wondering if the blower is stronger in cars with it.

i have rear climate. tried it off and on, closed and open, pointed down, pointed up...nothing helped.

Im not sure if everyone understands that this is really only a problem when the car is left in the sun... if i pull out of my 100 degree garage, it will cool no problem(no direct Sun). but get in it after direct sun weather 100 Degrees. its a HOT BOX OF HELL....

IT has no problem keeping a cold car cold, but a hot car does not cool down for me in time, Fan on high temp on Low, sounds like a train, but cant quite do it...

my X5 would keep me ice cold after coming out of a freezer into 120 degree weather, but not if it was in the oven first.

Ive begun to research aftermarket options for AC control

I think it is the windshield that is a big culprit. It let's in more heat the any other car I have driven, including an X3. Just a sunny 70 degree day can still cause you to bake in direct sunlight.

The A/C in BMWs is my wife's biggest gripe about the brand. She hates the A/C in our X5 (E70) and in her 135i. I agree they're not very good. Blows hard, makes way too much noise, but doesn't exactly cool very well. I had an F15 X5 was a loaner last week, and the A/C was worse than my E70. Living in Texas, that's enough not to consider buying one, especially with a little one in the back.

What gets me is that I've driven the worst loaners, such as the Chrysler 200 but the A/C just froze me out.

The AC in my 2014 X5 isn't really coping with the 90-100 degree weather here whereas my wife's 2014 335 cools in no time. I've tried with rear off/on, can't really tell a difference. When holding my hand to feel how cold the air is coming out of the vents it doesn't really feel too cold in the X5 whereas my hand gets really cold in the 335. Definitely feels as if something isn't right in the X5, will have them look at it next it's in for service.

We’ve had some extreme temperatures here in Luxembourg lately and my A/C dealt with it flawlessly. I always leave my car outside when I’m at work and even when it was 95 degrees and the car was hot as oven, it cooled down pretty quickly. What I always do is to open all my windows and panoramic roof when I’m approaching the car and keep it that way for about one minute drive to let the hot air get out of the car. Then I simply close everything up and leave the A/C in auto mode with temperature set to 63 degrees. If you don’t let the hot air out, your A/C will take much longer to cope with the extensive heat. I only have 2-zone climate with rear fans always open. My space grey color also helps a little

Perhaps US market F15s use different cooling liquid?

dont even bother having them look at it....

all my lines had pressure, blower works well, they attribute it to -As stated on the service sheet-

"air is in proper order. customer has stated weak AC cooling capability, the car cools to spec in reference to a Large Cabin of the X5 and the black interior and exterior color"

just an observation ...... this is all very subjective..... what may be useless to one person may well be acceptable to another ..... has anyone actually measured the temperature of the air coming out of the vents as a benchmark ?

True. We have an old Explorer we use essentially as a pick up truck and the A/C is nice and frosty.

Great post. WRT to RPM, that would have to be the compressor's own RPM independent from the engine RPM as far as I know, as I believe the AC is operate with an electric motor and not with a belt (I could be wrong, but recall reading this somewhere, and that is how the steering is designed as well). I know the compressor is retarded considerably in EcoPro.

I have had the car in the high 90s, and it took a few minutes longer to cool than hoped after it was parked in the sun, but then it was able to maintain temperature well.

I have 4 zone climate and for me.. some days it doesn't work well and some days it does.
I have messed around with the rear climate turned off and on.. Good news is it works more times than not

Stand by my original post. A/C in the X5 is a joke. Have black/black in Southern California and it barely keeps up. Worst a/c in a BMW I have ever driven. No complaints about prior X5 which was fine. This is prob last BMW I will buy, this is just one of the reasons.

Indeed! And if the car is left outside for any period of time and even partially heat soaked, the a/c is totally useless. Windshield bad, glass roof worse.
