I sometimes am so tempted to get 30% tints in the front windows (illegal) and the windshield as well (even more illegal)

15% over factory tint all the way around the back 50% on the front window... impossible to see at night when reversing or in unlit areas..thinking of adding light pods under the car/or inside facing out the back window,

I have 20% fronts, factory rear + screen, 80% windshield, 5% sunroof. This works well for me day with heat and night with vision and I never have to close the sunroof.

i can not get anyone to tint my sunroof!!!! something about the sun causing rapid heat buildup in a more direct angle..maybe its something about South Florida. i wonder if tinting the sunroof would create less heat retention

We have been triple digit in OKC and while on those days I use a sunshade for the front windshield because of two radar detectors, I no longer close the sunroof because 5% ting works for me. We have had two days at 90 degrees and now even without the sunshade it doesn't take long for the car to cool down.
The guy I went to was recommended by my BMW dealer and one day I saw a Maserati and on another day a Lamborghini so he must be doing something right. He also did a great job with the dot matrix in the front windshield.

CA cops love to pull people over for front tints.. getting a windshield heat shield/cover would help things a lot

Thanks for the info chart. My friend has CR40 on his front windows and it's pretty nice. I just love dark tints too much to settle on a tint that barely looks like the windows are tinted. Ideally, I'd like to match the factory tint of the rear windows

My e90 cooled the best. the f10 was slightly worse. the x5 is a lot worse. basically huge volume of interior (esp including the open boot) and i have m sport black interior so physics is winning.
on my other cars i always had to point the vents away cos it would get too cold. on x5 i do appreciate the extra vents and when i need some extra cooling point everything towards different parts of me and it works much better.

I never really got the logic of the AC, if you have it in AUTO, you still have to manually adjust the fan speed, this is contrary to Porsche, MB, Volvo or Audi. In those, AUTO is automatic, you press auto and desired temp and the car does the rest. In the X5, I need to manually adjust fan speed regardless of AUTO button pressed or gemp selected. Once I figured that out, I hvent felt that the AC is poor, ut earlier I did. Eco pro affects AC, in the i8 I can't use eco pro with kids in the back, it feels like you lose ac all together.

I'm not a fan of the "auto" system either, but I'm adapting. I think most are used to an auto system that goes full power when you first start the car and then cuts back the fan and temp to the desired setting. The X5 system seems to allow you to choose the intensity of the auto. I don't want to choose.
Anyone else have an issue with the AC button? when I switch to manual mode and then shut the a/c off. green light goes off. BUT the a/c compressor is still running and cold air is coming out. I want to put the temp on 60 and leave the fan running without the a/c compressor on. when I shut the system off completely, then I hear the a/c compressor shut off. Am I doing something wrong? |
