Ambient Lighting Coding - NBT EVO ID6

Today I was able to code my F16 X6 with NBT Evo ID6 using Bimmercode in Expert Mode successfully. I know this topic has been covered but I decided to make a little write up since there isn’t that many instructions for Ambient Light coding for the NBT Evo ID6. I want to thanks for those who provided very valuable information

Source: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...bient+lighting

1. Go to Body Domain Controller (BDC)
2. Open Expert Mode
3. Look for 3076.

Once you open 3076. You’re going to see values like this 3076_3_3_255

These numbers represent the Top, Middle and Bottom line of your ambient lighting and for each ambient light, there is 3 layers of coding which you see below

Colour 1: 3076_3_3_255 - 3076_11_11_255

Top Ambient Lighting Line
Layer 1: 3076_3_3_255
Layer 2: 3076_4_4_255
Layer 3: 3076_5_5_255

Middle Ambient Lighting Line
Layer 1: 3076_6_6_255
Layer 2: 3076_7_7_255
Layer 3: 3076_8_8_255

Bottom Ambient Lighting Line
Layer 1: 3076_9_9_255
Layer 2: 3076_10_10_255
Layer 3: 3076_11_11_255

Colour 2: 3076_24_24_255 - 3076_32_32_255
Colour 3: 3076_45_45_255 - 3076_53_53_255
Colour 4: 3076_66_66_255 - 3076_74_74_255
Colour 5: 3076_87_87_255 - 3076_95_95_255
Colour 6: 3076_108_108_255 - 3076_116_116_255
Colour 7: 3076_129_129_255 - 3076_137_137_255
Colour 8: 3076_150_150_255 - 3076_158_158_255
Colour 9: Didn’t find the values yet, If you know please let me know

For each ambient lighting line there is 3 layers
Heres an example of Green
Green (0, 255, 0) #00FF00
Layer 1: 0x00 | If the value is 0x00 then you click on (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 2: 0xFF | To place this value, you click Custom value … Erase whatever code is there then enter FF
Layer 3: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)

I created a coding chart where you can see the Colour, RGB code and Hex Code. You can have all 3 ambient lighting lines be the same colour or you can mix it up to your liking.

The only drawback with this code, on your iDrive screen it will still show your original colours (Orange, White and Blue)

RGB Colour Codes

Green (0, 255, 0) #00FF00
Layer 1: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 2: 0xFF
Layer 3: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)

Magenta (255, 0, 255) #FF00FF
Layer 1: 0xFF
Layer 2: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 3: 0xFF

Red (255,0,0) #FF0000
Layer 1: 0xFF
Layer 2: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 3: 0x00( nicht_aktiv)

Blue (0,0,255) #0000FF
Layer 1: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 2: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 3: 0xFF

Blue Magenta (127,0,255) #7F00FF
Layer 1: 0x7F
Layer 2: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 3: 0xFF

Light Purple & Blue (51, 32, 227) #3320E3
Layer 1: 0x33
Layer 2: 0x20
Layer 3: 0xE3

Pink (255, 43, 237) #FF2BED
Layer 1: 0xFF
Layer 2: 0x2B
Layer 3: 0xED

Orange (255, 127, 0) #FF7F00
Layer 1: 0xFF
Layer 2: 0x7F
Layer 3: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)

Red Magenta (255, 0, 127) #FF007F
Layer 1: 0xFF
Layer 2: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 3: 0x7F

Yellow (255, 255, 0) #FFFF00
Layer 1: 0xFF
Layer 2: 0xFF
Layer 3: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)

Cyan (0, 255, 255) #00FFFF
Layer 1: 0x00 (nicht_aktiv)
Layer 2: 0xFF
Layer 3: 0xFF

If you understand how RGB and Hex values work, you can create your own custom colour but it will most likely look the same in the colours I’ve attached above. I hope you found this thread useful. Please take all necessary precautions, I am not responsible if you mess up your coding

This is not about your version of NBT unit, it is about the I step version of car software. I may suggest you contact OP of the the big long thread and add this info to the first post.

I thought I read somewhere recently that the Android version of Bimmercode has put this feature on the "easy" side (don't need to go into expert mode)...and that the IOS version was soon to get it, too.

If this is true and one wants to add/change to these alternate colors...if you have the Android version of BC you can do it the easy way...and if you have IOS version of BC...give it a few weeks for the app update.

If this is incorrect...please feel free to set the record straight.

And this is not to take away from the efforts of the OP to share this info with others....but if this coding option is moving to the "easy" side of the Bimmercode app...might just want to wait.

I'm not sure for Android, I'm on my iPhone I wasn't able to code the lights in the regular mode I had to use expert mode

Hiya! I'm here from the F90 forum because it seems the F90s still run on this old coding system as compared to the newer G80s and so on. Has anyone here figured out which "colours" in the list are tied to what options in iDrive? I'm looking at wanting to change one of my "blank & white" options to a Blue/Cyan and Red theme and wondering which colour options I should go into and play with to effect that

Could it be the adapter that you're using? The Bimmercode supported coding lists multiple color selections for the F90 (on the "easy side") if you have the control module listed and the correct OBD II adapter that is at the link (you'll have to go to the website to click on the compatible OBD II link).

Supported coding parameters for the F90: https://bimmercode.app/cars/g30/

From my understanding I could swap the parameters of white to red, and blue to more like a cyan so if I were to go into my blue/white color option I could have a blue/red theme

The fact that this is so easily done, but BMW decided to not offer it as an option is just ridiculous. Great write up!
