confusing NBT version

hello...great to be here! I'm trying to determine if I have to completely upgrade my head unit to EVO ID5 or if it's just a coding thing. Funny thing is that my 2016 X5 (F15) says it's a NBT_L15325B when BMW "assures" me that it is an EVO NBT 4 and can be upgraded? any thoughts

Not sure what are you trying to do here but it sounds like you do have NBT . F15/F16 platform had two options if I remember correctly NBT (2013-2016) and EVO ID5 (2016-2019).

It's just normal NBT
F15 never had NBT EVO ID4.

It would help us help you better if we knew WHY you assume you have to completely upgrade to EVO ID5. It appears you may have some goal you’re trying to reach…but leaving that out of your original post…doesn't give us much to suggest how to reach your intended goal.

If you press the OPTION button…if you’re on the correct screen it will give you a prompt to reveal which version you have.

If it says what you wrote above….then you have the NBT version (sorry….no EVO). If it was an NBT EVO ID4/ID5/ID6…it would say it when you pull up the VERSION screen. You can see the 1st iteration of NBT (the next best thing) in the 1st pic below. The 2nd pic is NBT EVO/ID4.
