ID6 Wireless CarPlay Issue
9 times out of 10 when I'm connected to wireless Apple CarPlay in my 2017 X5 35i, I cannot choose another audio mode (eg XM, FM, AM, etc) without it automatically switching back to CarPlay as the audio input after 5-10 seconds. No matter how many times I attempt to switch the mode/input away from CarPlay, it always switches back.
The only exception is if I completely disconnect my phone from CarPlay, which is counter-productive because that prevents me from using Google Maps/Waze. This issue occurs while my phone is in the wireless charger, or plugged into the USB port within the center console. Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a fix? I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks! |

UPDATE:SOLVED
I wanted to provide an update to this post as I FINALLY figured out what the issue was here. Long story short, I use an alarm clock app on my iPhone that requires me to solve puzzles and complete math problems in order to shut the alarm off every morning. I realized that while this app continued to run in the background, it would force any Bluetooth audio sources to always default to my iPhone as the audio source. Simply quitting/closing this app solved the issue completely. For anyone who may be experiencing the issue described in my original post, take a look at what apps your phone may be running in the background, as an app may be the culprit. |
