Porsche is a waste of money
Feel embarrassed next to x6m!
Keep them coming guys. I'm having a laugh at all comments
I don't need to defend the best car in its class! Those that can afford the car, know what it is. Reminds me of people who say that only idiots buy 911 turbo when Nissan GT-R is as fast!
Good luck!

I saw a black GLE63 the other day, man that car has its charms, mean looking car with equally mean sound, sure the X6M might have better performance, but it's now a tough choice between the two if I were in the market for one today.

I really like the X6M (I don't love it so I would never buy it if I could afford it) it is pure ridiculousness from form factor to performance.

Best is subjective. After owning Cayenne for nearly 4 years, I do not agree that it is best in class. Poor ergonomics, frustrating silly quality glitches, heavy feel. Now this version is way better than the first, but still too much money for what you get. And yes I also bought an expensive 911 at the same time and wouldn't consider a Nissan. The 911 is actually a good value for it's high price, the Cayenne, not so much.

The best part is that my dealer is scrambling to get me to take a $165k Cayenne Turbo S, as he says it will perform similar to the X5M, and he'll give us a nice discount because my current car has spent so much time in their shop.

As I said in the other thread, The porsche is very old and the number are not nearly in synch with other tests of it. It traps113 mph and is also the fastest SUV around the ring at 7:59 lap time of which I don't believe the x6m (which even underrated as it is with close to 700 hp can't outrun ugly) comes close to. Article said 8:20 for the current x6m.
Something was not right with the car but it is still IMO the nicest looking and is the most quality car hands down.

Anyone here actually owns a Cayenne Turbo 2012+? Let's hear your opinions and not people who hate cayenne simply because it's pricey and a little slower! Porsche owners rarely talk about BMW. It's not the case with BMW owners

It's not so much that BMW drivers are envious or jealous of Porsche owners and their cars. It has more to do that because it's a Porsche, most think it's automatically better.

I know we're comparing a new X5/X6 M to a second generation Cayenne, but when the X5/X6 M is about $50k cheaper than the Turbo S and still manages to beat it, that's significant and that's not a knock on Porsche. The point is, when you're paying a significant premium (Turbo S) it better be able to dominate so I'm not sure why Porsche owners stick their chest out because if you're comparing just the Cayenne Turbo to the X5/X6M, you're still paying more for the Porsche for less performance (E70 X5 M wins most comparisons against other high-performance SUV's).

Good answer! The overall quality and handling for me is more important than 0-60 times! That's why Porsche owners don't mind spending extra money! I never said anything bad about X5/6 M. I just said that Cayenne Turbo is a clear winner in this comparison. Of course you guys are not going to agree. It's a BMW forum, right? Enjoy your cars guys!

I wonder if the M3 that was not as fast as the X6M was the current model or the V8?

I have a 2014 911 and a 2016 X5M, so I think I am in at least a pretty good place to compare the brands. There are a lot of interior traits they share. And I cross shopped the Cayenne Turbo S.

Fit finish are a bit better on the Cayenne in spots, better in the X5 in others.

The molded back seats are better in the Cayenne. I prefer the rear split gate in the X5.

I think the latest Cayennes took a step back in exterior design to its Cayenne predecessor. But even the older one looked considerably less impressive than the X5M. I love the rear stance of the X5M in particular.

Electronics in the X5 are vastly superior. It's more sophisticated to engage with and look at; easier to use despite more features. The "PCM" software in the Porsche is just too dated (something that will be addressed at least in part when the Cayennes get the upgraded systems in the 991.2 911s). Part of the problem is that the infotainment screen/software in the Porsche vehicles was designed for a narrow car like a 911. It's just too small in the Cayenne. Porsche does a nice job of visually hiding this with the placement of large vertical vents sandwiching the screen. Basically Porsche took the 911 dash elements and placed them on a balloon and then inflated the balloon.

It's nearly 2016 and STILL no head up display on the Cayenne; a feature I really miss in the 911.

The extreme price premium of the Cayenne to get comparable performance did not help matters.

Pairing a 911 to a X5M I think I gives the best of both worlds. BMW's superior electronic, creature comforts for long trips (w/o sacrificing performance); and the intensity & handling of Porsche's signature car for daily driving with interior parts actually optimized for the model.

I agree with you about the electronics and HUD. BMW is better at this department!

Having owned a 2015 X5M and Currently awaiting MY 16 Cayenne Turbo S one thing the Porsche really did right is the steering feel. The X5M IMO feels artificial and Numb in Sport and Sport+. Comfort did not feel much better.
