A note on Start-Stop
My dealer says that, unlike on the 3-series, the start-stop on the new X5 cannot be programmed to remain on or off. However, in sport mode, the start-stop remains off once it is turned off.

Mine stays off when I turn it off in sport or comfort. It will not stay off in Eco

^ Psycho... nice thread you started on delivery p/up check list.
My Delivery Specialist stated that the F15 remembers the last user mode. Mine if off. I only driven the default mode, I assume comfort. |

Yeah, there is a button on the left side of the start/stop button. You can turn it on and off from there and it will remember your last state (even if you stop and come back the next day)

Are you guys talking about the feature that shuts the engine off when you stop the car at a traffic light or a stop sign? If yes, there is a huge list on the user manual of situations when this feature will not work.
QUOTE=chrisny;15033578]This.. It is already programmed to remember last setting. This wasn't the case initially on the F30, then people hated it, so they offered the re programming as a solution.[/QUOTE] |

This is all different than the situations where the computer will automatically disable it, very cold weather, frequent very short stops (barely moving in traffic), etc. Those are automatic and temporary. What we're talking about is if you don't want to use it at all, turning it off altogether, and keeping it off so you don't have to hit the button every time you start the car. |

Well mine is not remembering the last setting (which is off) so every time I start the car the engine start-stop is always back to active, and I have to deactivate it every time.
besides, i understand this would work on small engines, when starting it would not consume that much oil, but is this the same with the huge V8? |

Not sure why yours isn't remembering last setting, I was told the new one has the setting to remember, and others here have said theirs does. Maybe the programming is regional |
