What are the differences from 2015 vs 2016 X5
I've ordered a 2016 X5 35i with M Sport Line. Won't be getting the vehicle until early October. I hear there are some changes coming to the bumpers, weight reduction, slight change to the engine providing more HP, etc. Does anyone officially know what the changes are from 2015 to 2016?

Came to realize there is a lot of BS on the internet. I googled 2016 BMW X5 changes and this was some of the information I read. I guess I've got 6 weeks to go and I'll see for myself.

when I saw that, I googled it too... and found this hilarious bit:
As far as the safety segments of 2016 BMW X5 are concerned BMW has while I'd really like to know where the "prompt" sections are (so I could count how many is a "sufficient number of airbags"), or what a seat "packed in leather" feels like to sit on, what I'm most disappointed is that I didn't get the "weather control mechanism" damn ... I'd love to scroll through the iDrive and be able to choose rain today... or maybe it would be a good day for overcast skies with no humidity ... sunshine for the weekend definitely...can I schedule it ahead or does it only work contemporaneously? just so you don't think I'm making this up (ah these "modern times" are great!): some internet BS . |

11.5% price jump for what reason? thanks BMW as far the as other changes, as others have said, that's all BS, NOTHING has changed, its only the second model year for X6 and third for X5. Major changes will come in 2017 (2018 model) for X5 and 2018 (2019 model) for X6. BMW has almost always stuck to the 7 year model below: New model Year 1 Year 2, tiny changes 99% of people won't notice Year 3, tiny changes 99% of people won't notice Year 4, tiny changes 99% of people won't notice Year 5 LCI (facelift), changes can range from new bumpers, new dash, new engines, options, colors Year 6, tiny changes 99% of people won't notice Year 7, tiny changes 99% of people won't notice New Model cycle repeats I just took delivery of a 2016 X6 this weekend, ended up leasing it because of the above cycle. Figured in 3 years when my lease is up the LCI will be out, perfect timing, and I am 99.9% sure the 35i will become the 40i with a small power bump (which will help a lot in this heavy beast). Had I bought it last year I probably would have purchased it and kept it for 4-5 years and then gotten the LCI version on a lease until the new model comes out. All about planning for your future cars, LOL |

Additionally new powertrains / engines sometimes come along. 2009 saw the diesel on the e70. F15 gets the hybrid for 2016. |

I've read the fuel consumption figures for the 2016 X5 35i (the one I have on order) reports an increase in highway consumption versus the 2015 model. Not sure what caused an increase in fuel consumption. Typically they advance technology for better consumption. Maybe 2015 was understated.
