I have the latest X5 25d s-drive, had it for nearly a year. really impressed with this engine, it really pulls, you would never know that it was a 2l 4c engine, I had the previous generation X5 3.0l and this is faster, smoother, feels really good, the 3.0l is barely much faster due to the extra weight so i'd highly recommend the 25d, never feels like it's struggling and I've come from a 330d, it's a very impressive engine. As for x-drive, you just don't need it if your driving on the road in a country without extreme weather (UK) so not worth the extra £, unless you live up north in Scotland maybe!
