Welcome to the forum - first post I see. Do you have any past experience with BMW's? Are you a DIYer/can you turn a wrench?

I love V8 X5's, I've had 2 of them, but I bought them both with very low mileage. This one at 120K miles, a lot of things can go wrong, a lot of costly things. So unless you can fix it yourself, or don't mind paying a shop potentially lots of $, I'd probably keep looking.

If you really like it, there's nothing wrong with finding a shop and having a PPI done - that should be a minimum requirement, with documented maintenance history ideal as well.

The only thing I would add to what @jiggz wrote, is don't touch it if it doesn't have a full service record.

I just recently bought a 2015 X5 F15 with 110K on the clock, and the service record was a deal breaker.

Within the first three weeks I brought the servicing up to my standards - see below.

Looks about right. $3-4k to bring it to repairable, go-anywhere vehicle. Did the same to mine. Next 40k miles hardly anything has been needed.

I also did suspension work. Another $1.5k to make it drive like new.
