Switching out run flats?

Folks,
what do you all think about changing run flats to non-run flats? Is the X5 2014 calibrated for run flats, and will changing to regular tires impact the car's handling? Specifically, I am thinking about ordering 20's, but would prefer to have all-seasons, like the Continental DWS.
thanks!

Always an improvement to get rid of run flats. Just put them back on at lease end, if applicable.

Just be sure to think through what you will do for a spare tire and where will you store it in the car. Sounds like if you don't order the BMW "space saver spare" then they configure the below-the-deck trunk storage differently and in a way that may not be able to accommodate any spare tire.

Make sure to get the spare option otherwise you'll pay double for it. $300ish

Silly question: the car was designed to run on run-flats why change?
Have you experienced a high speed blow-out? With run-flats it's survivable but without......

Another OP stated that if you order a spare after delivery that it would not fit. Hence the size of the wheel storage area is different? seems odd. Anyhow a spare is not available in Canada.

I changed out my run flats on my E70. The ride was noticeably smoother especially in a pothole ridden city and mileage better as it is lighter.

The reason I ask about changing out run flats is due to the fact that the 20's only come in summers, and in order to avoid switching between winters and summers (can't run summers here in suburbs of ny in winter), changing to non run flats all seasons, such as conti dws, could be a reasonable choice.

If I got 20s, I would want to keep the 20s on all year round. I'd definitely get the Conti DWS for Winter.
