Has anyone had confirmed what the max towing capacity of the X5edrive is? I have seen in the press that its likely to be the 3500kg of the rest of the x5 line up, but has anyone had actual confirmation from a BMW source?

Early days yet but for financing BMW seem to be calculating residuals to be similar to diesels, which could be for a number of reasons including they have nothing to base calculations on, being the first of type to market. Anyone looked into this properly?

I have one on order
I have the xdrive40e on order from Morristown Open Road BMW. We put the order in in the begining of August after driving the T6 Volvo (wanted the T8 hybrid).
The Volvo was ok, but it didn't drive like the diesel X5 and we would have gotten the diesel if we didn't find out about the eDrive40e. We were told that the car would arrive in Mid to Late September. My salesperson did drive the car when it was at the dealership and said that it was great. So we are going off of his test drive experience. I am worried a bit that the Audi or other cars on the horizon would have a better drivetrain, but needed to trade in my Porsche Cayenne Turbo due to a pending $15,000 maintence bill (2008 with under 60,000 miles). It is 9/11 and the car is still waiting to be built and the sales person says it will get pulled to be built any day now. I have a 25 mile commute one way, so I think the car will fit my needs better than a diesel. I am looking into a way I could plug in at work and if I can, then I think it will be ideal. I would have prefered a bigger battery, but I guess BMW thought this one out and this is the best they could do for now. My Build is as follows (reading the forum helped greatly to decide which options suit me): Luxury Line Mineral White Mocha Nappa Design Package Cold Weather Driver Assistance Plus ACC Dynamic Handling Package - CRAP NOT AVAILABLE ON 40e Luxury Seating Premium Package Multi-contour seats HK Audio Night Vision Air Suspension is included because of batteries Thanks for reading, Zack Last edited by Turbodog72; 09-22-2015 at 12:20 PM.. Thanks Zack and further details welcome. As nether the UK not US BMW websites let you "build" a 40e even yet it does seem like a very slow launch, especially as UK deliveries were stated as starting mid-Nov.

2VP Adaptive Dynamic Suspension is part of 7SZ Professional Adaptive Suspension Package in the UK but it is not clear if it is an individual option on the 40e, noting 2VM Adaptive Comfort Suspension is standard.

I didn't drive the Cayene Hybrid
I am done with Porsche for now. The cost to maintain the automobile is too high. I went with BMW because of the included maintenance. Unless money is no object, I will stay with BMW. I did have two cayennes back to back (2004 S and 2008 Turbo), so I will miss the brand.
I don't have the build sheet. I would have to call the sales person. Last edited by Turbodog72; 09-14-2015 at 08:44 AM.. Reason: typo |

My BMW dealer said the X5e is scheduled to arrive mid-October.
I, too, am seriously considering the Mineral White but with Terra Dakota Leather, and the orbit grey rims for contrast. I've had four black or dark grey Lexus in a row, and I think I'm ready for something different. Plus my wife's X5 is space grey, so I want to do something different. (But in the end I might chicken out and go with the black!)

Line Drive - questions
Line Drive,
When did you place your order for the 40e? Which Dealership? I placed mine in early August, but BMW NA said they received the order on September 1st. I was told by the dealer to expect delivery mid to late September. BMW NA is saying that I could go into production on Week 41 (october 5-11). They also said it could happen sooner/later as well. Did you get anything lower than MSRP? I was thinking about getting lighter grey, but then I sat in a MW and I was sold. The pearl and flake make it better than pure white. I am second guessing the Mocha. I wanted the ivory, but I knew it would not be a good idea because it would look horrible after 3 years. Terra is a good contrast, but it didn't come in the design series. I am already grown tired of the wait |

Turbodog -- Sorry, my post wasn't clear on this point. I haven't ordered yet. My Lexus 450h doesn't come off lease until December, so I don't need to order now. I asked my dealer when the hybrids are currently scheduled to arrive at dealerships, and he told me mid-October.
I'm realizing now the Terra Dakota Leather isn't available if I wanted the ventilated seats. But knowing how crappy BMW's ventilated seats are in terms of actual cooling, I'm thinking of sticking with the Terra Dakota anyway.

If you mean can the air conditioning be set to come on before you get in, then yes. As for a further heater, the electric motors don't need thawed like a fuel engine does. All the above assumes you are plugged in of course. If you set the timer to run at a remote location unplugged your battery range will plummet. Noting that, a key feature for me. No more deicing / demisting before you can drive - car should be ready for when you have set it to be.

Equally amazed that it us still impossible to build one on several national BMW websites to see what the options are. Ironically BMW are promoting their 225e as well by emailbut when you click on the build option the car doesn't exist. Weirdest, slowesf marketing I have seen in ages. Anyone in the UK ordered one yet?
