Correction on my statement. I just found out that BMS Stage 1 just upgraded the hardware. Currently I haven't seen anyway to change the variable.
I will dig some more and give an update later.

I just changed my S2 setting on my RC TB Ultimate from D back to C. The power delivery is actually better/smoother in C. I just was not impressed with D. It felt like it was holding the engine back especially when it came to top end power (more noticeable in Sport and Sport+ mode). C feels like it delivers the power better and keeps climbing in all modes. It also gives better MPG. I was getting around 10-13mpg in D while I was getting around 16-17mpg in C in all modes with city driving. So those of you with my similar chip, definitely stick to C as I initially recommended. I'm content with staying at C and not testing E or higher because it's just not necessary. 514 hp and 564 torque seems to be a good balance in my opinion.

Haven't tested it yet. Need to find an area where there are no people and flat road so I don't bother others. I want try with and without launch control.

RaceChip Ultimate installed. Working nicely. I had some issues with the clips, so it took me a lot longer than it should have. For x35i Petro mods, simply stick a small flathead screwdriver in the backside of the clasp and lift upward....it will pop right off.
But it was nice to spend some significant flashlight in the mouth time (per Omar) with the engine compartment. I went straight to S2=C. Smooth and quick in all modes. I will probably try D tomorrow. I have the RaceChip tied to a flat surface on the drivers side. |

Just an update. I got the BMS Stage 1 from Ben (r33_RGSport). Taking the RaceChip in and out is not difficult for me, but it is still very tedious, annoying, and time consuming (20-30 minutes with some slight lower back discomfort if you haven't worked out your lower back in a while ). So, I decided to try out the BMS Stage 1. I'll update everyone on which performs better. The BMS is definitely the easier install (1 minute - then securing with zip ties - however long that takes you as an individual). I'll update once I get it and install it.
This also proves that I was never bias towards any chip in case you had your doubts .

Yeah, I hear you, man. The BMS simply plugs into the two MAF sensors (one on each side) without having to remove anything else. I know for the 35s you guys have to plug into two rather annoying sections after removing the Air Flow box. It's not crazy hard, but not super fast either.

Has anyone done a direct comparison of the performance difference between the RC Ultimate and the BMS Stage 1 on a 50i? It looks like Opasha tried both, but I don't see his comparison posted anywhere. |

I ordered and received a RC Ultimate for my 2016 50i from RGSport. As usual, great service and fast shipping.
I got it installed tonight, set S2 to "C" and took it for a 10 mile drive. Overall first impression is not great. I feel like it lost some low end torque and turbo lag seems to have increased. This is particularly noticeable when trying to accelerate in a low rpm, high gear scenario: ie, on the highway and attempting to accelerate without downshifting. Towards the end of the drive, I did do a couple WOT runs and I was a bit befuddled with the results. First gear seemed sluggish through the entire rev band, second gear hits like a ton of bricks and pulls way harder than first. Weird. I am seeing an increased maximum boost pressure of about 1psi, so I know the tune is doing something. When doing some pre-tune runs earlier this week, I saw a maximum boost of 14psi. Tonight I saw 15psi twice. I know I need to give the engine some time to learn the tune, but does this seem normal? Does it get better over time? * EDIT 3/20/2017 * I take back some of my above comments. Turbo lag is in only my head. There is such an increase in top end power that I was perceiving the difference as lag. The "poor" acceleration in low rpm/high gears I mentioned above is no worse than before the RC was installed. I'm still waiting to see if the WOT in first gear improves. I did receive a drivetrain malfunction today, so I'll be watching that closely and possibly removing the RC permanently if it continues. I can't risk my wife getting stuck. * EDIT 4/10/2017 * I'm still impressed with this tune. Head over to post #161 for dyno numbers or click the link below. http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=161

If you have a 2017 X5 50i the BMS N63tu Stage 1 does not work and actually reduces apparent power. I removed it from my 2014 X5 50i and installed it on the new car after run in miles and it actually reduces the power output.
See more here: http://www.burgertuning.com/N63_Jb_B...nce_Tuner.html I have tried this twice now and the tune "feels" slower and the Sports Display shows LOWER power when trying to see how high you can get the readings. Much of the coding categories or descriptions have changed or moved with the 2017 model. For example if you want to change the coding for the keyfob to close the trunk the coding file and descriptions have changed slightly. So I think it is quite possible the same has happened with the engine and ECU codes and the BMS N63tu Stage 1 chip is not reading and changing what it is supposed to on the 2017 model. |

@Rotzy , Give it a run a few more days.
Also, can you post your installation picture? Just want to make sure that it is correct.

After driving it today and getting the engine warmed up, I unplugged the unit and put the "plug" in for a few spirited miles, then plugged the RC back in. There is no doubt that the RC is doing something positive. I definitely noticed a power difference in back-to-back-to-back drives. I'm wondering if the turbo lag I feel is simply because there is so much more top end, I'm perceiving the low end as laggy, when it's really not. She really is a beast now. We'll see how my first gear WOT issues are in the next week or so. I plan on getting it dyno'd again within the next couple weeks.

@Rotzy , seems correct installation.
I was just want to make sure. Because the installation between RC and BMS are total opposite. BMS uses MAF sensors, while RC uses TMAP sensors.

I think I remember some people experiencing the drivetrain malfunction when selecting higher S2 settings, but I'm only running at C. Thoughts?

You can't use other's setting as your target, as different car, different climate will give you different result. Also another factor, TMAP sensor. I have seen a few cars including mine had faulty TMAP sensor from BMW.

What did your car do when the sensor was bad? Perhaps if/when it happens again, I should let it store the code, remove the RC and let the dealership sort it out? I wish I had a definitive answer, as I'm starting to like the RC! No problem. Thanks anyway!
