Just removed center resonators... results:

Hello Guys...

Wanted to make a contribution to this great forum and take one for the team since apparently no one has done this and tell the story..

This is for an F15 50i I removed the two center resonators.... as you can see in the pictures they are both different which is very very weird never seen that before and they are straight trough design. Both resonators were replaced with 3" inch anodised aluminium tubes.

I did not have an after pic of the finished job because when I arrived the job was finished and they had put the truck down, but for any muffler shop the job should be very very straight forward and easy.

Removing the resonator should not affect you warranty at all, they do not serve any emission purpose they just help quiet the engine note down.

SO WHATS THE DIFFERENCE IN SOUND YOU SAY?

Unfortunately you won't be able to notice anything, this trucks are so well insulated that is very hard to hear the difference... The only thing you will hear while driving it (and you have to concentrate) is a very very very slight exhaust note and some "pops" while slowing down...

On the outside is a completely different story....

The truck will make some loud "burps" between gearshifts, exhaust note is increased by around 20-30% and there is no "howling" sound that some turbo cars make trough the exhaust...

I have to confess this is my first time doing this and I was very unprepared, the Gopro mount was making a loud clunking noise in the video and I am ashamed of it, but I have no other choice because I will leave tomorrow and have no time to record the video again! And also I don't have any before videos.... so maybe someone could contribute with that... If you guys ask me to, I could record some other videos next week without the clunking noise...

Here it is...

***VIDEOS DELETED*** Will get better ones soon...

As I mentioned in my PM to you, thanks for being the guinea pig and attempting this . Like I said, those videos do nothing for portraying the delete well, so it's a good idea to redo them the way I mentioned. Thanks again for the efforts .

I'll say this to the rest of the community as well. Go Pro videos likes this beside the exhaust do nothing for capturing the exhaust well. It just makes it sound raspy/bad because the vibration and noise is far too loud and tends to deteriorate the quality of the note. The best way is to stand at least 2 feet away and capture with a good camera with a solid built in mic (that will get rid of background noise especially if you have a stand of some kind so no "hand shaking" interferes) when you start and rev the engine while stationary. Also, do different drive-by scenarios both to and away from the camera at middle to high revs - sport mode will bring out the best sound as it does with the stock configuration. That's just my two cents from my and my cousin's experience when we tested our stock exhausts on different vehicles before modifying/changing to aftermarket exhausts. We found this to be the best way of capturing the exhaust notes especially when viewing videos on youtube (from other users).

Also, I'm sure EVERYONE knows this, but if you hear an exhaust note in a parking garage, it really echos and brings out the sound. Whenever I drive into a garage, I find this setting makes you really appreciate your exhaust note a lot more. I think that's also why you sometimes see guys rev a little harder in tunnels if they have nice exhausts or super cars.

Hi, just wondering if you are still planning on posting a sound clip of this mod?

just an update for anyone thinking about doing this... I removed mine and there really is no difference at all. Maybe slight increase in sound but tone is the same. nothing crazy but really isn't a big job so no harm in trying. i might gut the exhaust next
