New X5M Owner - Pick the Car up in a few weeks - want to go with snows immediately

I picked the 20's as i live in NYC area and i want as much tire as I can get to swallow the potholes.

I've been advised by my SA to just swap out the tires as soon as i get the car because the temps are well below freezing.

Thought getting 20's would be easier with tire rack, but i can't seem to find anything in the staggered setup. Am I just supposed to go with 285/40/20 all around? Should I just get a spare set of rims with the snows so that I don't have to deal with mounting/balancing?

Should i just go with all seasons instead? Should i switch back to the 21's and get a full wheel/tire setup? (is there one i can just get at the dealer?)

I like my factory winter package. The dealer can provide, install and store your summers. There are other aftermarket options too.

275/315 combos are within spec on the OE 20" rim. Lots of folks run this size DWS06.

Get the Conti DSW06 which are great and available in the exact 20" staggered setup.

get a dedicated rim & wheel for winter. Store them in your garage and swap them out in spring. Any shop can swap them for like $20.

Get a spare set of 18s or 19s with dedicated snow and ice tire since you live in a area with a lot of snow.

I live Upstate and just got my X5M in December and have loved my winters.... I used the tire rack 20 inch option and I am running Blizzaks which I love on BBS rims. Great combo....

I have them on my explorer...they are "ok" at best in snow. I thought they would be better and why I got them. They are very good in dry though.

Go with the Tirerack 20inch setup someone recommended above with the Blizzacks.

FWIW, I find the factory setup with Pirelli scorpions good overall in normal snow, but not so great in slushy conditions. I don't have any direct comparisons but I've never felt a car get pulled around by slush as much as this...and other cars on the road didn't seem to be as affected as I was.

Looks like this is the only tire available in 285 40/20. When these wear out I'll likely go to a 275 40/20 setup with Blizzaks or Michelin X-ice.

I had dealer install 19s. Made several trips to mountains and no issues. In fact, enjoyed it.

Trying to figure out how to attatch pics from my phone.
