Stealth hitch install and coding

Hi, Im sorry if this has been posted. I used the search option and I got stuck in the coding and harness options:

So I have a 2015 35d with M sport package.
Apparently the most popular is the Stealth hitch towing package. Any Curt users who wants to recommend their setup please post your feedback.

Now this is where Im stuck.
Do i use the Stealth hitch harness of should I order the OEM harness (if someone can post what combo is using that will be appreciated). Also the part numbers if they use anything OEM and if its not a pain to look for it.

Second question is who did your coding? Did you take it to a dealer? What do you get by using the bmw harness vs the stealth harness.

I found some recommended installers in DC area but the only independent shop that could do the coding gave me a quote of 2200.

Thank you for your time and feedback in advance.

IMO, I would get the BMW harness and control module...keep in mind, you can use many different crossbars if you want, but the OEM harness and coding gets you the features of the PDC acting right and trailer zoom

Doesn't really matter which particular brand of crossbar you go with, wiring and harness is most important part and most of users here went with OEM. Check this thread out, has all the information you need:

Thank you. Trying to figure out the coding part. Was anyone able to code the car with an aftermarket hitch at a bmw dealership?

I have stealth hitch and I purchased the oem harness and trailer module through them which included remote coding through codemycar. Otherwise you can code using esys as it requires VO coding.

Is there a difference in capability from the harness/coded stealth hitch option and the factory harness and coding?

For coding changes I understand that the rear parking sensors are disabled and the rear camera zooms down on the hitch. But are there other behaviors that change? In researching this some time ago, I thought I read that the AT cooler behavior changes (more active?) and that for the DHP equipped vehicles, the torque vectoring implementation changes to provided trailer anti-sway control.

I have the OEM harness and OEM module. I have not had the full coding done. I changed it in Bimmer Code to enable the top down view of the hitch with the lines for backing up, and, when it senses a trailer in the either of the plugs, it will kill the rear backup sensors.

Since I have not injected the module file into the car, I don't have the active sway and I get a warning on the dash or in the Check Control. Everything works as it should.

Some day I'll get it done for $300 and enjoy the trailer sway control if I tow heavy, but for now its just small trailers.

Just installed my stealth hitch and using it for the first time with a bike rack. Is it normal to have some play / wiggle in the rack once installed? I would have thought it was rock solid but there is definitely some slight give left to right that I’m concerned about.
