But that is like base RR with no option vs almost fully loaded X5 5.0...
Once you even play with simple color combo on RR, you easily go over $90k without selecting any options. I don't think RR and X5 is in a same league unless we are comparing X5 vs RR sports. And RR just feels more luxurious in the cabin even without options IMO. |

I looked at the RRS and ordered one initially before rates were finalized. They are more expensive to lease and are substantially back ordered. The cabin is nicer to me, owing simply to the vast range of colors and options, but the tech leaves a lot to be desired.
This plus their sketchy reliability history led me back to BMW.

RRS is sexy as hell imo.
Their leases suck - and I lease...So it's not an option for me... For those who buy or $$ is no object? Go for it!

Well, that sucked.
All you guys are 100% correct. Wdimagineer totally agree with you. The tech in the RR does seem 5 years outdated especially small things like the backup cameras that sort of seem like a non issue until it just makes the car seem out of date. I also totally don't get the jaguar style shifter -- if feels like you are calling in settings to the engine room.p If only they had the RR with BMW tech -- wait, they tried that...! Lease rates are miserable on all RR products. Imputed interest is close to 7% and residuals are very soft. Plus, and here is the kicker, dealers are charging anywhere from $10-15k OVER sticker. Feels like someone is partying like it is 1999...but not me. |

Plus they end up in the shop more than you can drive them. Seems like a pain in the arse.

2) I don't know about reliability of the new RR (new RR owners say it's better, but coming from people who also owned the old RR that's VERY subjective and too early to tell anyway), but you definitely needed to have two old RRs: one to drive while the other one was repaired. |

Dismal tech and service always put me off. It's why I've steered clear of many marques like RR, Jaguar, Ferrari, Maserati, etc.
As much as I would love to be "that guy" and turn heads, I use all of my in-car systems daily. If they're not up to task the driving experience is soured. The only better experience I've had that not only turned heads but had the bells and whistles was my Tesla. But even that became frustrating. BMW I think got it right with everything in the F15. I can't wait to have mine.

I like a lot of options, leasing, and diesel. At the end of the day the difference was nearly $30,000 on the purchase price and OMG ridiculously hideous on a lease + no diesel in the States.

Also some of the earlier versions of the software left me scratching my head. For instance, when we finally got direction of travel on the nav map, Tesla only licensed flat north up tiles from Google. So when going south, all your street labels were upside down. Just silly little things really.

Apart from snob value I can't see what the appeal is with range rovers. The design is basically shoe box on wheels. My 3 year old could probably come up with something a bit more imaginative.

Word. Styling is way better on F15. Wasn't even tempted by the ancient RR styling or it's neanderthal tech.

RR Full size and X5 totally different both in price and league.
X5 VS RRS is challenging. Both has pros and cons and there is no clear winner. However, with demand and over sticker price, I am sure BMW would cost atleast 10 to 15K cheaper. Plus BMW comes with 4 year warranty. |

The F15 is my 4th X5 in the last 8 years and it is the best I ever had. I find the Range Rover a beautiful car and the look is way more impressive than the X5. It looks bigger and more car. However, the technology still lives in the Stone Age and you can lease almost two X5 for the cost of leasing a Range Rover both having the same MSRP.

there is no point of leasing a range rover.... you can buy a full size range rover and drive it for 10k miles and sell it or even trade it in for msrp... i have a 2014 RRS with 78k msrp, have about 5k miles on it right now... im looking to get a full size and dealer offers msrp on a trade in.. not to mention they sell for 20k over msrp if selling private party

when you buy from dealer, most dealer sell at msrp on a brand new car... and when you trade it in it becomes used... and dealer take it in at msrp and add about 20k on top for resell... not sure why, but if you in the market for range rover, you can look at the prices currently going for... people buy them and then resell it for 40k more than what they paid for...

I've had 3 RR. 2004 RR. 2006 RR SC Westminster. 2011 RR SC Sport. I actually liked the sport the best. I've also had the first my x5 and currently have a 2012 X5 5.0 with Dinan Stage 2. The x5 is my overall preference for my intended use. If I spent more time in the back country the RR is wonderful. For family and daily use the BMW with all it's features are superior. Now having said that I'm currently looking at a 2014 X5 3.5d. May switch to that...
