2014 X5 50i - HPFP warranty extension
I could swear I had received a letter that the HPFP was getting a limited warranty extension, but I can't find the letter or anything on the internet.
Can somebody verify this and what is there a SIB? I think it was fairly recent. Fuel pressure issues affecting both rails. |

I just had this done on my '14 X5 50i two weeks ago. It was not warrantied and cost ~$1500 (bank 2 only, there is an HPFP on both banks).
Ironically, it failed at the dealership immediately after I had the injectors and sparks replaced for free under that extended warranty. FWIW, they actually had to cut off the vehicle-side plug and put on a new adaptor, so I guess the newer HPFP's have a new plug interface? To my knowledge, there are just two extended warranties that applied to the 2014 X5 50i; the fuel injectors and a fuel pressure sensor (not the actual HPFP). You can confirm using bmw-rp.com by plugging in your VIN. In addition, now that the Isley settlement is finalized, you are eligible to take a free oil consumption test. If you burn a quart or more in 1k miles you can get a replacement short block engine installed, prorated based on mileage. |
