I also ordered from Colourlock. Matched perfectly. I didn't have a tear but a big scratch from something being dragged over the seat. You can't tell where the scratch was. Yours though would need more repairing. You might want to try a car upholstery shop as that is something they can handle. Another alternative is buying the bottom seat leather (it's available as a part from BMW) and having someone put it on. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how perfect you want the repair to be.

My european BMW OEM warranty would not cover this. BMW asked about 1k (with discount to fix it). Took it to a leather specialist, he replaced it with real leather (he confirmed that part was not real leather) for 300 euros plus he replaced the foam on that side. Looks awesome now.
I have to correct myself. It was not BMW OEM warranty. It was extended one purchased from the dealer but it was not BMW OEM (had OEM for 3 y, got additional 2 y). They did accept a bunch of stuff to claim especially in year 5 of owning this car. |

I was recommended to just use Crazy Glue to repair mine. Going to try that on my 2015 next week.
Interestingly it’s the same brown color PVC or pleather non seating surface on mine. But I thought PVC is prohibited in Europe? Otherwise it’s a cheap eco friendly material that wouldn’t pass a 120,000 cyclical rub test because it’s not the seating surface. Hum. BMW cheap’d out on this side panel and is forcing it on buyers of its luxury car. Poo on you again BMW. |

I just used an amazon patch kit. It doesn't look great but I figured since I'll have to replaced the whole panel eventually then it doesn't hurt to spot it from getting worse for the time being.

I had this repaired twice on my 15x5. Both times under warranty although the second repair was past the warranty at 65K. The issue seems to be the foam support not being strong enough to prevent the leather from folding when getting in and out. When the second repair was done the foam support was either changed by BMW or the dealership service department did something different to better support the seat. It has been 50,000 miles since the second repair there is no damage to the leather.
