ISO lower tailgate repair help
Just picked up my '15 x35i yesterday, and I would like to fix my lower tailgate issue right away.
You will have to excuse me for not using all the right names of the parts, but what will remain a mystery from my explanation will be explained in the pictures. The interior tailgate flap that bridges the gap between trunk and lower tailgate no longer goes up and down with the lower tailgate. This flap is forced down by springs, but all the mounting points for those springs have broken off, so they just spin freely. I will need to replace the bottom part, the actual flap is in good condition. Anyone have a place they recommend for OEM parts delivered, or a local breaker in Los Angeles? And could anyone help me with a part #? On another note, what is the latest recommendation for wireless Apple CarPlay systems? |

Let me introduce you to https://www.realoem.com. You will find all the part numbers you need.
Just put in you VIN, and explore via image clicking down to the part #. In your case, the part is a Loading Sill Cover P/N should be : 51477326465 The full image break down. The other P/N under item #20 Loading Sill Cover, are for the other colours. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_9224 |

Thank you all for the help!
I got quoted $300 including shipping from a breaker so being able to search based on the part number amounted to huge savings. Just ordered a new one on ebay for $145, will follow up with the result. |

1 - Head unit retrofit with full ID6 ~$1k on ebay, fully OEM. 2 - MMI box ~$400, cheaper, not really fully OEM, sound quality issues 3 - Android screen swap ~$300 i think? Not OEM at all |

I spoke with our member from RG Sport and he mentioned option #1 is near impossible since the OEM parts are connected to your VIN and they can create issues.

Well, you cant just swap it, yes you need it coded to your VIN, but virtually every seller on eBay codes them to your VIN before shipment. So its rather plug n play once it arrives. You could also do BimmerTech who sells the retrofit kit and has a lot more support than ebay sellers, but they charge 2x-3x the price.

Nope, that's definitely it. Luckily once you add tax and shipping it's only about $10 cheaper so I guess I'll just wait for my ebay purchase to arrive.

Not sure where you are in CA, but the link I provided does Will-Call....and so I don't pay shipping (BMW of Escondido = "BMW Discount Parts")....and you could try to have your local dealership price match and/or apply the BMWCCA discount....
