Ticking/rattling type sound from floor area when lifting foot off gas pedal ?
Okay fairly new here not new to BMW or forums but have been researching and reading posts for a while but did not find anything similar to my issue. So here is some background. Also want to know if this is normal or not.
Got a new to me 2017 X5 3.5 with roughly 54K on it a year or so ago just as pandemic hit so its was not driven as much as I do now since work at home was in play. 20" staggered wheel setup will assume from factory since this is how I got it. Issue: Rattle/ticking sounds when you lift foot from pedal for about 2-5 seconds. Sounds seems to me as its coming from floor board area. As the tittle states the noise occurs all the time when lifting food from pedal If you lift foot off it will make the sounds and as soon as you get back on gas pedal it goes away. Things I tried as a test: Shifted to neutral as the sounds occurs but hard to tell by the time you shift it seems to be about time the sounds stops. So I don't think it makes a difference if its under heavier load or not. Happens at all speeds at most the sound stops quicker when at lower speeds or not as prevalent. Considered taken dealer or shop to have them change fluid in transfer case and do a transfer case calibration but not sure that would help at this point. I feel the issue maybe with the transfer case but not 100% sure yet. So any idea to look for of try to test things more. Other thing that I was considering was turbo blow off valves. Thanks in advance for any ideas or thoughts and sorry for the long first post. |

https://repairpal.com/there-is-rattl...-gas-pedal-671 I had this with an Acura Integra, many years ago and the problem was the heat shield. |
