X5 HELP!

Hi, just bought (privately) a 2015 BMW X5 MSport 30D at the weekend. All was well when viewing and test driving the car, I then drove it home (150 miles), my husband followed in his car and said it seemed to be spitting out a bit crap when I was putting my foot down but we didn't think anything of it given its a diesel car, however I'm now concerned as even on initial start up it's really hoying out some fumes and it smells really strong! It's not black what it's hoying out nor is it white it's more like a dirty brown/grey colour. The exhaust tips are now literally black.

The car seems to drive perfectly fine, speed/performance doesn't seem at all impacted.

Whilst I'm going to get it looked at I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas??

DPF clogged up perhaps?

I did consider this but there's nothing flagged up on the dash to indicate it to be the dpf and given I'd just done 150 miles of which 80 miles I was doing a solid 75mph I'd have expected it to have cleared it out.

I am however a typical woman who doesn't know a lot about motors 😂. Just preying it's nothing too horrific cos I love the car!

Hey!

I'm not sure what the law is where you're at, but perhaps the previous owner has hit a pothole in regards to the exhaust, previously. Might be something to look into.

Thanks for this. We have established today that the previous owner has removed the DPF filter and not decoded it 🤦‍♀️. We've had it decoded today but think I will need to do a good couple hundred miles before all the crap is cleared out. Not liking the idea of having no dpf either but seems it's going to be a bit of a costly process to have one installed... Will see how we go and if we have to get it done we'll it is what it is I guess! Thanks again

If it wasn’t coded to work without the DPF, your first indication would have been a “Check Engine Light” for SCR.

I have a 2015 X5 35d that has a staggered wheel setup
275/40/20 front
315/35/20 rear

My question is can the rear wheels fit on the front without rubbing when making a turn, want to get away from the staggered setup. It looks great but a pain trying to keep good tires
