Thumbs down No Beeping/Chirp when locking/unlocking

Hello guys, our F15 is not beeping/chirping when locking/unlocking the vehicle and the audible alerts are ON in the iDrive, any idea what's wrong with our X5?

There's a red light on the rear view mirror - it's visible from outside facing the windshield. Does it flash many times when you lock unlock? If it does - there's something not closed in your car - hood, trunk, door etc. in that case there will be no chirping sound. Check that first please. it's a factory feature - if you didn't hear chirping - come back to car and check all doors, hood, trunk etc.

It's flashing so many times, the weird thing is that the vehicle is not telling me that a door the trunk or even the hood are open

You're suppose to count the number of flashes and that tells you what is going on. I just don't know the flash counts.

Wow it's flashing like 20 times after locking the vehicle.

Go around and open and close all your doors and trunk again. Maybe the hood too.

Just did it and no fix at all ! The red alarm light is blinking 20 times exactly after locking the vehicle

Hi Humberto,
(I think I remember you from another forum) did you own an X3 before?

Regarding your issue, with the multiple flashing, the alarm system is trying to tell you that there's a problem with the system. A sensor malfunction, or even the siren could be bad. (Does the siren go off if you trigger the panic function?) The only real way to know is to read the codes in the alarm ECU, you can use the Bimmerlink app for that.

The other thing that could happen, if you bought it used, a previous owner could have coded the beep off, again, for this you'll need another app called Bimmercode and you can code it back. Both apps work with the same Bluetooth dongle.

Good luck!

Hello DonJuan, yes I owned 2 X3s before, I have checked the coding on this vehicle using BMWCarly and the audible locking/unlocking option is active, When I press the panic button the alarm goes off and the horn honks very loud, but I know for sure that the beep when locking/unlocking the vehicle is not related to the horn of the vehicle, so I think I have a damaged alarm sensor/speaker.

Ok, yeah proably Bimmerfest, I owned a an X3 for many years. (I'm X3Terrestrial there).

So yeah, you probably have a bad siren speaker or sensor. I wouln't rule out that someone has messed with the coding before, there are several different settings you can change for the alarm.

You can check here: http://bimmercodeapp.com/cars/f15/

Ohhhh I really remember you ! Glad to have you here buddy! I just compared the functions of bimmercode and BMWCarly and they are basically the same. I have determined that the speaker/level sensor is done. Just found one at ebay for $60, it's already on it's way home, I'll let you know how the story will end for sure.

Any idea how to access the siren location? Do you think that removing the rear passenger fender liner could I access the siren and replace it?

Rear bumper must be removed. I had the whole alarm module replaced about month back, after being rear ended and the tilt sensor got damaged.

You could try and code the chirp off with your Carly and then after a reboot (sleep) try to code it back in.
Unlikely that this would help but easy enough to do to give it a shot. Could be the module is just screwed up and changing the setting back and forth straightens things out.
Slim chance.

How did you find out Fuse 103 was shot? Just open it and take a look? I’m having the same issue and am running through the troubleshooting steps. Checked the coding, all is good there.
