M50d Gtechniq new car detail

Hi all

A week or so late posting but here are a few pictures of my new Carbon Black (which looks really blue in some of the photos) M50d being given its new car detail using a whole raft of Gtechniq products:

Crystal Serum Light
Exo
L1 Leather Guard
C5 Wheel Armour
I7 Smart Fabric

Not too many pre-delivery swirls but those that were there were professionally buffed out before being ceramic coated and sealed by Tom at All That Gleams who are based in Chilworth, near Guildford in Surrey. Fantastic service and all at a very competitive price - highly recommended

A month in and I am still enjoying the sheer pace of the new addition to the family which has been dubbed The Wild Thing!

Great job Mark
Brings that deep blue colour out nicely.
I'm so looking forward to having mine completed beginning oh May as I feel the paint work is so vunrable without it at the moment.
My detailed has said not to wash it until I have the ceramic coating added, however can't bare to see my car looking dirty since pick up.
May have to pressure wash/rinse the car next weekend.
Now enjoy your X5

Mine is now 26 months old and the GTECHnIC is proving to be superb.

Does the paint feel like it is slippery, similar to wax, when rubbing the back of your hands against it?

I know from your other thread that you are trying to see if your dealer correctly treated your car. Mine doesn't feel waxy at all, just very very smooth. Hope this helps and best of luck in getting your stone chips sorted - they ought to do this as a gesture of good will with it being so new.

Smooth like how it is after you finish waxing your car? Sorry if this is what you meant. I reread my query and thought I may have asked incorrectly.

Funny thing is that I was going to get the similar coating as yours because I thought there were currently no protection.

Yeah hopefully they can help me out. Thanks!

No, it feels smooth but dry. When waxing previous cars, there would be a residue left over which feels slippery - this feels totally dry if that makes sense.

Hi Mark,
What product do you use to wash the car since applying the paint protection? I heard the shampoo must not contain a wax as this will effect the ceramic coating?

Only washed it once since it was detailed (not too diligent) and use Chemical Guys HoneyDew Snow Foam (as a foam via the cannon as well as a shampoo) which seems to work well

Having my detailer finish the car next week, however he has said not to use any shampoo that contains wax. Were you told the same?
You enjoying the car as much as I am?
