xdrive50i DIY oil change w/video

Did my first oil change last night and made a little video, maybe someone will find it useful. I'm not a videographer lol just trying to give back to this community

Tools I used:

86 mm 16 flutes oil filter wrench

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

5/16 alan wrench

3/8 driver

Latex gloves

Drain plug does not look like you typical bolt, its more like a flat plug with a hole for your alan wrench. It's located towards the back of the engine. You will get oil on your hands so I would not change it until engine cools down.
Oil filer points straight down underneath little to the left from the drain plug. When you loosen it oil will come gushing down for a few seconds. I would recommend using something wide enough to cover the whole area (oil filter/drain plug) to catch oil.

Drain plug needs to be tightened to 18ft/lb
Tighten oil filter cover to 22ft/lb then go back (loosen) 180 degrees and then tighten to 29ft/lb.
Don't forget to replace the seals.

In my case before oil change I was a little over the middle on the indicator after i put 8 quarts in it put me right in the middle. I read here on forums dealers put in 9 quarts but that's probably a rounded number for billing purposes.

Hope this helps someone. Any additional info or correction is welcome!

Funny that this didn't show up when I was searching a few months back for someone to do a 50i oil change. Only reason why I made my DIY lol. Good to have it back up.

I have done two oil changes so far (5,600 miles on the odo) and it took 10 quarts of oil both times to get to the top green bar on the electronic dipstick -- I really miss the old dipstick. D
