Body Shop Advice Needed - Rear Bumper Hit
I recently came out to my car from the gym to see another car literally parked up against my rear bumper. I am taking it in to the adjuster for inspection tomorrow but wanted to post a picture of the damage. You can see a crease in the rear bumper and "waves" on the lower part of the bumper from where the bumper was pushed in.
My question is, does the entire bumper cover need replaced or will they try to repair this? I just want to make sure it's done right. Thanks in advance. |

I have same thing with my front bumper and they can't repair it - it has to be replaced. In my case I decided to live with it, because I don't want to risk insurance increase (I know many of them say insurance won't increase when you are not at fault 100%, but I've seen too many cases when they increase premiums one way or another, it could be hidden costs or regular increase seemingly "unrelated" to the case etc, but they always find a way, they have lots of legal tricks for that)

I would like to buy it, I am looking for a alpine white M Sport and I can live with that crease and waves, but I'm in AZ and I doubt shipping is cheap for something bulky like that |

Is your car Alpine or Mineral White? If mineral white good luck lol, paint matching on that color is a nightmare. Never seen anyone get a perfect blend for MW.

I got the call this morning that the car was ready for pick up. The bottom of the bumper still had waves and I told them I'm not accepting anything other than a 100% perfect repair. they tried claiming that this is just how the bumper comes from the factory since there is no support in the middle of the bumper.
I said nice try but if you drove to the local dealership not a single new x5 would look like that. I did just that and they had one new and one used m sport on the lot and they were both perfect. I'm pissed. |

Good for you. They probably just tried to heat it up, hoping some of the waves would even out. Amazing the corners people will cut and scams they try to pull. I know... ask to see the order they placed with a BMW dealer for a brand new rear cover.

Bumper covers and other fiberglass or plastic pieces can never be repaired to new in terms of getting creases/waves out. If you didn't demand a new one from the get-go, do so now.
You will always see the ripples from certain angles and it'll bother you because you know someone else caused it due to just not giving a sh*t when they parked.
