Well....here I am.
Hello to all,
My second post on this site. I stumbled into the site years ago, but ended up mainly at bimmerfest and other places. Growing up in California, BMWs are everywhere and have always been. For me it started with the rich kids in high school driving tan and orange 2002s to school (yep....the late 70s). That said, I got my first BMW is the 90s and have not looked back: 1993 325i Green on Tan 1996 328i Blue on Tan 1998 528i Black on Black 2001 540i Black on Black 2004 745i Black on Black 2007 750i Dark Grey on Grey 2010 550iGT Black on Ivory (Nappa) 2012 550i Black on Black and now my first SAV (or SUV, truck, or non sedan of any kind). I picked up an X5 xDrive 35i (Black on Black) on Sunday in the rain at Santa Monica BMW (all cars came from the same store). So hear I am, with an F15. I look forward to coding, adding a RaceChip, and enjoying the ride with all who spread the knowledge and enthusiasm here. |

First of all, congrats and welcome .
1) r33 can hook you up with RaceChip for your 35i. 2) I will send you all the coding information (buy one of the cables listed in my thread: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1033991). 3) Many will start requesting this, so it's a good idea to show pics of your lovely F15 when you get a chance - think of it as an initiation into the F15/F16 forum, haha jk .

Thanks Gents (and Ladies?) for the overwhelming welcome to the club. I will post some nice snaps when I take her out on my way to the gym later today. Thanks for the PMs also. Specially thanks to opasha. The threads you have put together are incredible. I am up and running on my Macbook Pro (multi boot to W7) with Esys 3.26.1 and PSdzdata (Lite) v.54.1. Easy install. The cable is on the way from eBay via the link you posted in the coding thread. I was a programmer years ago so I look forward to playing around (carefully) with the coding.
Specs: BMW X5 xDrive35i xline Jet Black with Black Dakota Dynamic Handling Package Premium Package Active Steering Rear View and Surround View Harman Kardon Here are a couple of crappy snaps from the garage.....and yes that is a brand new X1 (xline and Mocha leather) sharing the garage with the new F15. |

I have not had a chance to take her through the paces. I left the store at about 9:00pm on Sunday in the pouring rain, rained on Monday, so this weekend I really want to get a feel for how they work together. I can tell you that I cannot feel the weight of the car at all. I had a 2010 550i GT that was simply awful. It did not drive like a BMW at all and it was loaded to the max (I took one of the first two that Santa Monica BMW received that was sitting in the showroom). It was the first year of that model and I think they have fixed a lot of the drivability problems. In fact, BMW would constantly want to pick up my 550i GT for testing. They would pay me and give me a new 7 series to cruise around in. This F15 feels pretty dam good compared to my 550i with the M package that I just turned in, which is surprising to me. I do wish it had the 20inch paws. I might have to upgrade. The RacingChip is a must. Funny the X1 looks like a toy sitting next to the F15. My wife picked it up about a month ago. Sitting next to my 550i it looked formidable. It is a very, very nice vessel. The 28i engine has come a long way. |

Two BMW in the same garage...
We really need to tell the house builder or the American architect that you guys need to change the standard and build the larger size of two-car garage. |

Actually, the garage is unusual. I live in downtown Huntington Beach directly across from the Pacific, right where they have the yearly surfing contest. All the new homes in the area are all very tall 3 story, long homes, that are very skinny. It is so they can get as many close to the ocean as possible. My place is 2800 Sq feet and only 18 feet wide. But it is almost 90 feet long. No yard, no driveway (but an extra space to park outside the garage door). 4 patios (including rooftop) at different levels. Most of the windows face front (south) or on the Pacific side (west). All the ceilings are at least 9 feet (and in some locations 20 feet) and all the doors (including closets) are 8 feet. Tall, long, and skinny. If we both had F15s we would be in trouble (e.g., I would be parking outside).

Thanks for info. Actually, many of houses' 2-cars-garages are truly small. Some of our members have posted their pictures before, their cars are side by side, too. Here are some info I know... 2012 house in Irving, CA. 2-cars - 20' wide insides. 1 garage door. 1950 house in NYC. 2-cars - 18' wide insides. 1 door. 1910 house in Seattle. 2-cars - 16' wide insides. 1 door. 1996 house in Vancouver, BC. 3-cars - 36' wide insides. 3-doors.
