No, not at all, this is mostly blue. #2 will use a Rare Jade Pearl which is greenish blue and it will also have a color shift on top. So depending on the angle you are looking it will shift between green and aqua blue giving a nice depth. Take a look at the video in #12 post and you will see the color as the camera moves 360deg. Also with the proportion of the color shift applied, I can vary the amount of green vs blue.

Pulled the trigger on Option #2 and have started the work. Car is dropped off at the paint shop and it will be completed in a week. I will post the pictures as she goes through the transformation and post the details of what mix was used.

X5 is ready to be prepped before it gets sprayed, about 14- 15 coats of autoflex high gloss peelable paint.

Just stumbled upon article (on Russian BMW forum) about start of production of the new M5 F90 - that is a most powerful model in history of BMW ever - and guess what color they chose?

Yes I saw this couple of days back, it was posted in the forum here. I think mine would turn out to be very close to the color of the M5 F90. Fingers crossed, let's see by end of the week

Lol, thats what I said to the paint shop when I first saw it. Black does look really good, but unfortunately I have OCD to keep it clean always and I'm afraid it would not be easy. Hence going with a not so darker paint.

After about 5-6 coats (which is not even half way). The colorshift is starting to show, looks greenish with indoor incandescent lighting and starts to show blue with daylight.

5 more coats to go before topping off with glossier clear coats.

Oh $h|T that looks so good! I have been on the fence with wrapping for a while, but this seems like a legitimate option for less. I wonder how durability is?

I was just about to pull the trigger on wrap and then came across plastidip, didn't really like the quality/finish. I further started finding that they have a proline product and now Autoflex. Autoflex got my attention and if done properly, looks and feels better than OEM paint, some people may not agree to this but they haven't seen or gone through the work. As far as reliability and durability, AutoFlex coatings when applied properly (by a professional) and with about 12-15 coats, can last atleast 5 years and more. The entire job costs less than $2k as compared to a good wrap that could be twice the cost.

The other important difference I want to point out is that with Autoflex you can wash, wax, sand, polish like OEM paint and you simply can't do that with wrap or with plastidip for that matter. If you like to clean your car often and keep it looking like new then Autoflex is the way to go.

I also just got tipped off from my AutoFlex dealer that in early 2018, Autoflex is coming with a technology that can recreate an exact paint of any OEM (including non BMW finishes) available in the market. I could have waited, but have been wanting to wrap or autoflex for a while now, so pulled the trigger.

Here are some pics after 14 coats. Car is not detailed yet and there are 2 more of clear coats left. You can now see the glossiness of autoflex top coats clearly.

Thanks It is not done yet , will post the details of the color combo once this is done. With autoflex you can literally create 10's of 1000's of colors in either glossy, matte or satin finish. X5 is drying now before the final 2 coats and then she gets detailed, so hopefully should be ready to pick up Sunday.

Calidips in Oxnard. There is one more in south LA who has been doing plastidip for 9 years.
