black kidney grille OEM
my dealer just quoted me $200 parts, $325 labor????
are you kidding me? should it really take that long to swap out 1 part that is clipped in by plastic?? Searched around for some DIY in the forum, almost eery post is a different method. Is this a super easy DIY? $325 seems insane. Its a MY18 in case there's been any changes... |

Mate, make it easy on yourself: just cut the old grille out and install the new one. Done, and it'll take you less than 15 minutes.

But seriously, if you don't care about your current grille, just cut the slats out. You'll be done in a few minutes. |

It's fairly easy to do as others have said. Buy the grills from getbmwparts.com as it's fairly cheap. Use the new grills to figure out where the clips are so you can get at them more directly. Use the videos online to get an idea of out to take them out.

My dealership was going to charge me $425 for a cracked fog light. I bought a new one on line for $130 and it took less than one minute to install. They were charging about $200 labour on top of their own bulb cost quote.
I always do my own front grills. The x5 was the hardest one that I've done over the years of BMWs but I'd def DIY for $325. |
