Artist’s renderings of the next generation 911 (992) look good!

Thanks for posting.

Not sure how I feel about that front end yet. I hope it grows on me. Looks jarringly inorganic compared to the rest of the car. I’m really just talking about the bumper and the portion of the front clip that just includes the front headlights.

Anyone else feel this way too?

I like the front bumper and the old school hood.

I am not so excited about the all-digital interior, always liked real buttons / more analog feel.

Rear bumper seems good. I hope it doesn't start to look like every other porsche though with that black bar across it.

Overall, I like it, will be interesting to know of any major changes to the engines.

This is what Porsche released at the LA Auto Show. Certainly does not look aggressive.

I doubt they'll ever flatten the front wings/fenders that much. One of the best things about any 911 is how easy it is to visually locate the front corners. Speaking of the 992 renderings obviously, not the 991.2 CT above.

Front will take time, just like rear deck vent change last year. Rear end looks good.

Looks good! Aggressive yet sexy. Interior is stunning. No one does interior better in design or quality. And given how world class the performance and handling are now it’s only going to reset the bar.
I wonder if they’ll move the engine up again, effectively making it more rear mid engined than they did the 991.

that's a 2018 991.2 C2T, a new submodel for the current generation. Its kind of like a GT3 with the base engine.

well, kind of both:
At LA Auto Show, Porsche's chief engineer August Achleitner commented on Carrera T.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-show...mp;date=120517
Quote:
He also says the R and the new 911 Carrera T are similar too, at least in philosophy. Achleitner had the idea for this model back in 2015, shortly before the R made its debut.

"I had the first idea to form such a base 911 about two years ago during the last Rennsport Reunion," he told us. "I had some discussions and talks with fans and journalists, American journalists, and they mentioned such a base 911 would be nice, and I took this idea with me."

Achleitner says he wanted to take the same sort of thinking behind high-end models like the GTS, GT3, and GT2 RS, and apply it to a base car. The result is a 911 with no more power than a standard C2, but one with shorter gearing for its 7-speed manual, thinner glass, less sound deadening, and standard Sport suspension.

"This is not a collector's car. This is a car to drive," Achleitner said. He noted that the launch photos for the T feature a dusty car on mountain roads. It's not a car for sitting in the garage, and for him, it's better than a 911 R.

"If I had a 911 R, I would keep it in the garage because I wouldn't have the courage to drive it," he said. "Everybody has a look at this car and says, 'Oh this is €400,000, don't touch it,' or something like this.

"So, I would be more happy with a 911 T."

I have no reason to think the car is anything other than beautiful in totality, but any improvement on the previous? It simply looks like they are trying to make it look different, and by doing so, it looks worse because they are trying to improve on perfection, or what was already aesthetically pleasing.

The more I stare at that front end and try really hard to fall in love with it, the more I think Technic set

There's no way that could pass as a next gen. Certainly as a mid-cycle refesh, but not as a new gen. I know 911s have always looked similar generation to generation, but they are still different enough to be told apart. This is not.

996 to 997 was pretty small, just fried egg removal and bumper tweaks. I'd imagine 991 to 992 will be similar.

Looks like they double staggered the wheels: 20" rears with 19" fronts (and different widths, of course).

Looks like the front tires look just as narrow as now, probably 245's.

Works fine when you only have 38% of the weight up there. Also explains why they have relatively large rear brake rotors.
