Screen Icon

Recently noticed a new icon on the nav screen. In the grey box at the upper right where the radio station info is, i now have a small black circle with a white arrow in the center, always pointing to around 1 o'clock. Can't find any reference in any of the manuals. Anybody know what it is?

most likely the "time shift" option was enabled. go to the settings in the satellite radio portion and remove time shift.

That icon indicates you have GPS tracking enabled.

GPS tracking, that's it. Big brother at it again. Going to turn it off. What's the advantage anyway?

The BMW Connected Drive app needs GPS tracking turned on to at a minimum provide vehicle location. Not sure if BMW itself needs it on to provide assistance in the event your car is stolen.

To enable gps positioning/tracking go to the vehicle settings menu and scroll down, as I said earlier the only thing I'm sure about is the connected drive app needs this turned on to show the cars location in the app.

I have NA 2017-1, but that does not affect idrive menu. I have NBT_M15392A on idrive 4.5.

idrive 4.5 is the last release before newer idrive 5. The NBT_XXXX changes with I-Step.
