You can tell when it's produced using bmwarchive.org, then follow the shipping by vin as previously stated. Best we can do for UK DIY tracking I think

You can see your production order if you have the VIN number from your dealer. Go to the spare parts website of BMW (www.bmw.com->Services->electronic spare parts catalog) enter your VIN number, and then in the menu options on top you can select "options"

It will show you all the details of the configuration, but unfortuneately not the production status.

Once you have a VIN, go to the website www.2wglobal.com, go to Track&Trace Cargo, and enter the last 7 digits of your VIN in the cargo id field. This will show you the schedule for delivery to the uk.

If your VIN doesn't show up in the track&trace, your car is still in Spartenburg. Normally it shows up when it arrives in Charleston for shipping.

I've just been informed delivery has moved forward over 2 weeks from 17th March to 3rd March!

Means your car is not yet in transit. The last 7 digits must be an exact match

Not sure that's correct. The cargo id is now only for 1 vehicle of the 600-800 onboard. Individual vins don't work anymore (as posted on another thread somewhere) but you can see a group of vins. Mine has shipped and is in the uk

I saw that post too and it is not correct. If you enter a VIN number in the cargo id field, it will show you all information of that VIN including the booking reference and the bill of lading number. The quantity refers to the bill of lading. Try entering this bill of lading in the corresponding search field and you will get all the VIN's that are part of the bill of lading. Try it with a VIN that is already showing...

So again, if your VIN is not found with the last 7 digits, your car has not been shipped yet, or has been shipped with a different transporter.

I also had the illusion mine hAd already shipped as BMW continued to say it would be here last week. Turns out it showed up in Charleston on the 14th and will not be here before mid feb...more than a month late...

Update: yes you are spot on. So my dealer is either mistaken and it's still stuck in the states (produced 14-12-13) or they used a different carrier. Fingers crossed it's the latter

Probably still stuck in the US.

The next 2 ships going from Charleston to Southampton are the Turandot and the Don Juan. Meaning your car would be in Southampton in the second week of Feb.

If this is the case, your VIN will show up in the track & trace 1-2 days before shipping in Charleston.

So I went to bmwarchive.org and punched in my 7 digit vin, however what came up was some 25 year old 3 series or something similar.... does this mean my car hasn't been produced yet!?
Seems odd as the initial order was 13 Dec?

That's what happened with mine initially. A day or 2 later it appeared correctly with the full spec and production date.

As I ordered the 40dM around about the same time as you (13 Dec) I'm wondering if there might be some delay on the 40d engine or possibly clearing out other model backlogs? Just a theory!

If you login to the UK MyBMW, then My vehicles, Add vehicle, you can enter the last 7 digits of your VIN.

With any luck it will bring back a picture of the new X5, although the model will probably be wrong. It showed an SE for mine and its actually an MSport.

That worked... although like you, it gave me little more than a pic of space grey 40d in an SE trim! - Instead of an M Sport trim.
Right now I'd give anything to know if the car has been produced yet! Guess I'll just keep checking back.

Ordered my 3D M Sport Saturday and now have production week ending 29th March, Delivery week ending 18 April

Dealer says too early to track so will just have to hold off getting too excited until I get more information nearer the time....CAN'T WAIT UNTIL APRIL
