Annoying rattle in door

As the title says, I have an annoying rattle in my rear driver door. Its driving me bananas! It squeaks every time I go over anything not-so-smooth. I've narrowed it down to the locking mechanism (If I pull on the lock button, it squeaks).

Would you guys take it in to have that fixed or should I wait for its regular service interval? I'll feel like a big fat whiner if I take it in just for that.

You could maybe use a lubricant or wd40 that should help it...

Like R33 says, take it in. Hopefully dealer is close.

My dealership only warranties squeaks, rattles for 1 year despite the 4 year official policy. I gave up after a month of trying. I took x3 in for trunk noise, they said they were nice and only charged me 1/2 hour rather a full hour.

My dealer was not reluctant in charging me. Despite my 1st time, the storyline is that BMW Canada does not cover after one year, the blame game.

I had my car in to the dealer a couple of months ago for water inside the threshold side skirt and some rattle in the door, apparently a seal plug wasn’t installed from factory and every time i washed the car i got some water inside side skirts, had about 10l that they needed to drain out…. the rattle in the door was just a tighten of some screws in the electric window setup, take the car to the dealer, let them deal whit it!

In the past, my sister and I have joked "When the dash starts rattling its time to sell the car.". Selling my car when its only a month old isn't an option! Maybe I get by on a technicality: its not the dash.

On the bright side: if the stereo is loud enough I don't hear it. This technique is probably why I don't hear so well anymore.

I have to put up with strange noises a lot whenever I drive. These noises often sound like:

"Watch where you're going!"

"You're driving too fast!"

"Can you corner properly and not make the car roll so much!?"

I can't seem to figure out where the noise is coming from..... or where the passenger seat eject button is

But, joke aside, if I were the OP, I would definitely take the car in to get it checked out. If it's the door, you wouldn't want the noise to be a harbinger of something more sinister - like the locks popping open during driving, as reported by some X5 owners (myself included).

The more I read about the sounds you hear in your car the more I am suspect that you are married to my wife. Just a few minor differences or additional sounds like: "turn down the music" and "stop playing with the buttons in my car".

Barb, it's brand new. You should take it in for service.
