Any suggestion on oil change ramps?

I want to change my oil between BMW service on my X35d. What should I get for ramps? What is a good load rating, brand, model etc?

In 1982 I spent two months working at a Mercedes facility in Germany. They used to pump all the oil out (motorized pump), and never used the plug at the bottom of the oil pan. I am not sure if it will work on a BMW, but if they do pump extractors are a lot cleaner and easier. You will have everything in a container to take to a recycling center. You don't have to get under the car, can use it when the oil is hot, possibly cheaper.....http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n_...41120011&ajr=2

+1 for the extractors. I've had a Pela 6000 for almost a decade now it still gets used for in-between oil changes every now and then. I used it religiously back before yearly oil changes/service appts were the norm.
Detractors will tell you that you're not getting everything out along with not getting rid of the particulates that have accumulated at the bottom of the pan. Those are valid points, but my take is that removing as much as possible via extractor is still worlds better than no in-between change at all.

To your original question, wjbender, I used Rhino Ramps before buying the Pela. Better than the old school red metal ramps. It's been years though, so not sure if there are new designs in this area.

Car is too new for me to have to even try, but is there enough room as is to slide under the car with a creeper and not have to even use ramps?

I've never tried them but I've heard a lot of great things about raceramps.

Rhino ramps. You can typically get them from Autozone or any other car parts store discounted with their coupons.

I have Race Ramps and love them. Light weight and you cannot get them to slide.

I am thinking to go with a Air Power America 5060 Topsider Multi-Purpose Fluid Removing System oil changer and not use the ramps at all. http://www.amazon.com/America-5060-T.../dp/B001445IZ8

I'll change at 5000 miles. I plan to keep car for 5 -6 years

Topsider works very well. It just takes a while for it to siphon everything. That's where a nice cold beer comes into play.

I like this idea (using the pump). Can anyone recommend the best/cheapest place to get oil and filter? Filter online? And what brand/type of oil? (For F15 50i)

You may have started an oil war here For sure get full synthetic. I prefer Royal Purple. Some people like Castrol, Mobil1, Motol, etc.

I want to buy the Castrol recommended by BMW, but am unable to find it. I would by a case to get a better price. Who knows where to get a good price on oil filters?

If I'm not mistaken, from the beginning of 2015, Shell is the new recommended oil for BMW. Not that it matters, really, but I was just putting it out there for your informational purposes only.

I have a oil sucker that I connect to my air compressor that worked great on my V10 TDI VW but how can we use it on the X5 without a dip stick tube to insert the sucker hose?
