BMW x5 good price?

Hi everyone,

First post on this forum. I got a 335xi a couple of years ago and now I'm hooked. Looking for a mid size SUV for the family. I'm trying to figure out if my lease price is a good one since I have trouble breaking down the actual sales price into what should be the correct monthly payments.

My build:
X5 x35i
Black sapphire metallic
Mocha dakota leather
Luxury line
Driver assist and assist plus
Premium package
Rear view cam
surround view

MRSP is 66450, the dealer says will honor the truecar price of 61960.

The price they quoted me was 2100 down 910 per month, 36 mo 12K.

I'm in OH so a sales tax of 8%. When I try to break the lease payments down with formulas and calculators I find on the web its always so much less than what the dealer is quoting me. I know the sale prices doesn't account for acquisition ($750) and title, etc (<$1000??). It still doesn't make it to the dealer quotes monthly payments. I asked the dealer and he said RV = 58% and MF = 00.0013.

I'm new to this car bargaining game...can some experts out there give me a hand?? Just don't want to be ripped off.

I'm actually playing with a couple of different builds and the MRSP of the car I actually want may be a little higher but the dealer says that they will honor the truecar price which is invoice (or 7% below MSRP). I think this is good...right?

Thanks

Hey Seville,

You are right something is fishy with this deal. $910 for a 66K X5 is really high. When I plug your deal into the LeaseMatic app, I get $773/mo with 3K of taxes due up front. This excludes the other stuff you pay up front such as license, registration, 1st mo, acq fee, etc. See if you can get a detailed lease quote so we can figure out where things don't add up.

At the truecar sale price of $61,690, it's a solid deal but if you're buying off the lot and considering it's end of year, I think you should try and get it to the lower $700s/mo.

Looking to Lease a new X5 - Help with the price!

Hello all,

First post to the forum as I am shopping an x5 right now. I would appreciate any help/advice/opinion.

Looking to do a 0 down / 0 out of pocket 36 month, 12k a year, lease in the state of Texas.

So far I have negotiated 500 over invoice. MSRP is 64350. Invoice is 59175 plus 250 for MACO and 180 for Service / Training fee. This puts invoice at 59605. Sales price would be 60105. Unfortunately, in Texas, and on a lease, you must pay sales tax on the entire sales price. Residual at 58% on 12k a year.

Lease number comes to 889 per month.

Any thoughts on this number? Can I do better than 500 over invoice? Does anyone know if there is any "trunk money"

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Quotes in DC Area

F15 Gurus,

As others, I want to extend my appreciation for the level of knowledge, analysis, wit and pics on all aspects of F15. My wife and I are in the market, and are soliciting quotes from dealers in DC area, with goal of ordering by 12/31.

Well optioned 35d with invoice (per TrueCar and Edmunds) at $68,585 and MSRP $75,775. Quotes so far on selling price [including destination] are in $69,900-$71,900 range. True Car estimate is $73,150, approx. 5.5% off MSRP.

I don't think UDE comes as rebate in a check. It's taken as $1000 off of negotiated price.

Others can confirm...

Correct, however the dealer screwed up and didn't put my name on the list to get the OL# via email so BMWNA is going to send a separate check.

2015 BMW X5 xDrive35i
Space Gray Metallic
Mocha Dakota Leather

Driver's Assistance Package

MSRP = $61,500

Paid $55,500 in NJ. Almost a 10% discount and it was better than truecar pricing by $1,000.

So Cal Dealership Prices

For those in So Cal, I did 100% of my negotiation online through emails. I sent a build sheet to 15 dealerships in the LA area and asked for their best price on a custom order. Initially, most of the responses came back $1000 to $2000 over invoice. I then took the top 5 best prices and negotiated further.

Ultimately Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo was willing to do $300 over invoice, Ontario BMW at invoice, and South Bay BMW at invoice.

Alexander, without much negotiation was willing to do $500 below on a custom order and $1000 below on any vehicle in their lot.

I replied to all of the other dealerships with Alexander's quote and none of them was willing to counter offer. Most said to take that deal because it was too good.

This is the second vehicle I have leased from Alexander and I believe their "urban" location contributes to their lower prices.

Hope this helps others in their search for a new BMW.

Ronnin,

Great information and I did the same. I found several dealers today that would go $1000 under invoice in Southern California. I am not sure if it was just year end that they were this aggressive. I decided against getting the X5 at this point, as I want to see first that Uncle Sam sends me some money first.

I think it also helps that the X6 is showing up on dealers lots and is a great car.

Based on the BMWUSA website and the 2015 "lease offer" it looks like lease residuals crashed 2 points on Jan 3rd. Can anyone else confirm?

I locked my 50i a few days prior!

You are right, the specials show 57% for 10K/yr, which means it is 56% for 12K and 54% for 15K, a reduction of 2% across the board. The sDrive models are 1% higher. Not sure what the MF is yet.

Nice job locking it in!

They jacked the base MSRP of the 50i by $1000 as well!

Over a 36 month lease this car got about $2600 more expensive overnight.

I guess they think the recession is over.

Ronin114 - do you mind sharing your Alexander contact? I tried sbabich, no response. Also - what are the mechanics of "sending a build sheet" - did you just create a spreadsheet w/ options noted or shared results of configuring the car through bwmusa.com?

Thanks!
