Cleaning X-Line trim

How do you clean (in between washes) the x-line trim in front and rear bumpers? Can we use some kind of pasty chrome cleaners, but they are not chrome, more like brushed steel/aluminum and they show dirt very badly, I am not even sure if they will be prone to rusting in super salty north eastern winters.

Hey Hyde, I use a multi surface cleaner like the ones for windows and glasses for these aluminum trims. Works well so far.

Thanks @cy07.
I just ran my fingers across and I noticed things didn't come off as easily as they would on painted trims/chrome. The brushed surface makes thing stick easily, I will definitely try some multi-surface cleaner. Thanks for the suggestion.

Anytime Hyde! While some dirt don't come off easily, the aluminum can withstand more abuse and rock chips than painted trim!

Loving the contrast though.

Yes, I am so glad I went with X-Line instead of Lux trim. It's sort of not so flashy chrome that makes it look great.

Autosol has a chrome plastic cleaner. #1910
Metal polish works perfectly on the carbon build up on exhaust tips.
The Aluminum polish and oil I have used for the running boards.
Company is established and makes BMW branded cleaners.

I'm waiting to try the rubber care ( gummi pfledge), on the seals for winter protection, but can't seem to get this that easy.

Thanks, I am referring to specifically the rear bumper and front bumper trim, I can't tell if that's brushed steel or aluminum, there is no plastic coating on it. Someone suggested in other forums to use scotch brite (soft one) with cleaning material to get an even cleaning instead of lint free cloth which is what I would normally use. After only 4 days I already see some brown staining there probably some sort of oil splash from the rainy days we had over the weekend.

Front bumper trim: per BMW:

With stylistic underbody protection elements in brushed stainless steel, newly designed air intake bars in matt silver and a rear trim strip which, like the kidney grille bars, comes in matt silver, the xLine adds distinctive touches to the exterior and emphasizes the SAV character of the new BMW X5

Thanks,
I guess rear is the same thing, then, "brushed stainless steel".
