Issue: Alarm Goes Off When Locking Car

2017 X5M, 1833 miles. Issue started to show up about a week ago. Doesn't happen all the time, but when I've locked the vehicle from the outside with the key fob, the vehicle locks (car "beeps" and the lights flash confirming) but then about 1-2 seconds later, the alarm goes off. First time it happened 2-3 times in a row and I had to leave the car unlocked for awhile, then lock it from the BMW Connected app. The second time it woke up my sleeping 10 month old son (which now has the unfortunate side affect of causing my wife to hate the car).

Has anyone experienced this?

Funny enough I do. I have an Automatic Pro connected car adapter.

hmm that usually only happens when i have our dogs in the car, it sets off the motion sensor. which you can turn off if you hit the lock button again quickly.

example lock using button, and click lock again quickly.

Is there a motion sensor inside the car?

Might have to unplug that when you lock the vehicle.

Yes any aftermarket accessories plugged into obd2 port will cause this.

Nuts, that a bummer. I can see the logic behind that, but still.

Anyone know if this can be turned off? Coding?

Absolutely can be coded off

in the FZD ECU:

Disable Interior Alarm Sensor:
Innenraumschutz --> werte=00

Disable OBD-II Alarm:
OBD-Alarm --> werte=00

Awesome. Need to get this done. From my research here, it doesn't seem like coding is something one can do on their own with a cable/laptop of some sort?

you need a odb-cable (non china trash cable dongle - will damage your car) and the right software called e-sys with newest files and token.
Bimmerfest has a forum for coding - many manuals, pdfs and a lot of information

nothing special if you have some knowledge in IT

Thanks. Ordered a cable and manuals from eBay based on suggestion from a member here.

On another note, found out another wrinkle to this issue. Both situations with my Automatic Pro plugged into the obd II port.

If I lock the car by touching the ridges on one of the door handles, the alarm goes off.

If I lock the car by pressing the lock button on the fob, alarm does not go off.
