F15 Parcel Shelf fitment

Hi all

Purchased a genuine OEM F15 2013-19 parcel shelf a few days ago which arrived today.

On fitting it does not click into place and on further investigation it seems that the small plastic bit sticking out below the spring loaded metal fob is stopping it moving into place flush so it can click in.

A friend who has same year X5 sent me a pic of his and the plastic but is not present but the rest looks the same.

Whilst i dont mind cutting this off, I want to check first why this might be the case (i.e. not OEM, wrong BMW part for vehicle etc) and that i am not missing a reason for the bit sticking out.

Pics below to show what i mean.
Thanks

Do you see the 11 digit BMW part nbr on it anywhere? And is the area you have circled on the left or right side?

Seems like you might have received the wrong part...but FWIW, mine goes in where, in the last few inches, I have to push the right side in first, and then the left side goes in. If I try it the other way around or pushing both sides in simultaneously, it won't go in.
