Painted wheel arches vs unpainted wheel arches

I saw a new X5 with unpainted wheel arches. Which model comes with unpainted wheel arches? I think they look much better than painted. More character.

The Luxury Line and M Sport models both have painted. The X Line and the base model (with no line) have the black plastic.

I didnt mind the un-painted wheel arches on the E70, but on the F15...they look a lot nicer painted.

Add me to the other side of the fence. I kinda like the black plastic, especially on white X5s. I think it gives it more of a utilitarian look that I like in my SUVs. Whenever I see the painted arches they almost feel 'stuck' on after thoughts.

If you have black, then in my opinion it doesn't even matter if it's painted or unpainted. Hard to tell the difference unless you look closely.

I think the unpainted ones go well with dark metallic colors while painted ones are much better with light colors.

I agree that painted ones look nice, but I actually really like how the black looks more rugged on my Mineral White. It makes the SUV seem higher up. Maybe the 22's help .

I am actually talking about the FLARED on painted like whats on the E53 4.6 and 4.8is. Not just the base unpainted.

I think I saw one on a car show and one in person couple days ago. These were flared unpainted with bmw big factory rims.

Flared or not, the painted and unpainted are still the same (painted on Luxury and M-Sport; unpainted on X-Line or base model). The flared rims come if you order the 20" wheel options that are available on Luxury, M-Sport, and X-Line.

If you order the base model, or you order one of the lines w/ just the 19" wheels, then you get the non-flared.

Apparently we have two types of X5 drivers here.. one with a spirited driver in mind where we position the 0-60 speed on top of our list and one with a more sport UTILITY driver where they are more concern with slightly off-roading capabilities...

On another note.. on the M Sport, do you guys notice road debris paint chips in front of the rear wheels panels? I saw a slightly used CPO Msport X5 f15 with tons of rock chips that was an issue for the E70 as well.

You have to order the X-Line and the 20" wheels. With these two combined, you will get the flared unpainted arches.

If it helps, I have unpainted, flared arches. They look awesome. Here are the pics.

anyone know of a part number for the flared non painted version? I have the x line and prefer the flare with my upgraded 20's.

e70 has the flared arches on most websites but I'm wondering if the f15 ones are available anywhere except the dealer? thanks

If you can wait, I'll check the price on Monday and let you know.
Part numbers are easy to find, discounted prices are the hard one.
